Allowing myself time for a bit of an improv sesh in-between teaching classes at @fly_ldn. Not only helps my creative juices flow but gives my mind space to explore, play and take risks.
Education is so priceless. Sharing knowledge and encouraging continual learning is so important in the fitness industry where we are constantly changing the way we move in our bodies adapting and muscles progressing. Thankful for all my mentors who constantly inspire me and make me a better mover.
Ballet- inspired workouts with a mix of Pilates and Yoga. All about that length and strength amirite! Here, Jay is using the flexiband to allow proprioception and tracking of hands to shoulders and added resistance.
Ballet technique, Pilates core, and Yoga length. Get in touch for PT sessions with me via DM or email link in the bio.
The correct use of breath is so so so important when exercising (cannot stress this enough). Breathing allows you to fire up your deep core TVA - taking advantage of the natural contraction of your abdominals, you will also increase length in your spine and also relieve tension and stress overall!
Barre, Pilates and Yoga are especially awesome methods of moving that encourage guided breathing and I definitely recommend adding this into your cross- train fitness routine!

Today I’m finally reflecting on when this photo was taken— this time 6 months ago, where I hit the wall with work one too many times, and was unhappy, unappreciated and mostly unpaid for all the hard work I’d done. I was controlled for every little thing from the hours I could teach, to where I could teach and what I could teach— and was made to feel like I owed my happiness for being so lucky to do what I loved. What freelance life?
Fast forward to today, I left in May and haven’t looked back. It might have taken me 3 months to leave with no promise of another job, and I can honestly say I am the happiest I can be with my self and what I currently stand for. I’m lucky I got out when I did and even luckier to have found my feet at all the other amazing studios I currently work for who are all genuinely awesome-ly fun, managed and like minded.
Moral of the story is to be brave. Know that life always has a way of bringing you back on track, even if it takes more time than it feels like it should. And know you will always have friends and family supporting you. So do what makes you happy and eliminate the bullshit in your life. I know I still have more to do.
Did you know that Barre can improve your posture and alignment? It’ll wake your deep core and lumbar stabilisers and encourage thoracic mobilisation- especially good for you desk workers! Not only that, it helps keep your muscles supple and flexible while strong and lean ♀️
Did you know barre is not just for women? We work to challenge the core by increasing cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Barre is also strength based through isometric holds and pulses— oh, while being low impact so great for limited or injured bodies. Not easy though, no muscle is missed out in each class and you will leave feeling muscles you’ve never felt before. ♀️
Did you know I teach 6 barre classes at @fly_ldn every Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday? Yup, find me here at a bunch of times to choose from- mornings before work to a lunchtime quickie and/ or end of day sweat sesh. So give it a try, don’t forget to fill your water bottles and definitely don’t forget to request a sweat towel from reception. Can’t wait to see ya! Get booking!
I am definitely not an Anakin Skywalker, but Jay is Master Obi-Wan and I am his padawan. Such a great mentor #jaywebbpilates
