This week’s #SpiritStories features the true Yorkshire spirit...Hedgerow Gin.
Born and raised in the countryside of Yorkshire, Hedgerow Gin, owned by Sloemotion, brings together the nip of crab apple, grassy nettle leaf, with the sweet tang of rosehip, cloudy elderflowers and heady wildflower meadow hay.
Manor farm near Malton, where Sloemotion began, returned agricultural land to the wild by planting grass and wildflower borders, and cutting hedges much less frequently. The fields, the rich meadows, the vibrant woodland and especially the tangled hedgerows in North Yorkshire provided the inspiration for Sloemotion and is still at the heart of every decision made.
Sloemotion is big on foraged fruit, and most of their ingredients are handpicked from local hedgerows and orchards. Hedgerow Gin is the fruit of many years of hard work by the award-winning team at Green Farm. A real British spirit with Yorkshire heart.
The care that is taken with the hand-picked hedgerow botanicals that enhance this unique gin is evident in every sip. Perfectly paired with our Botanical Tonic Water. @sloemotionuk#Fentimans#Gin#Botanical#HedgerowGin#Sloemotion#GinAndTonic
This weeks #SpiritStories we are introducing the typically french Saffron Gin by Gabriel Boudier.
Gabriel Boudier is a family owned business, founded in 1874, with over 100 years of experiences in capturing the fresh flavours of fruit, herbs and spices. Their first creation was a handcrafted cassis, developing a unique expertise in preserving fresh fruit flavours.
In 1945 a new request saw the birth of a new tradition at Gabriel Boudier. The family was approached by the US Army to create a gin for the American soldiers posted in the region. Gabriel Boudier used their mastery of flavours to create what they believed was the ultimate London Dry Gin: rich in flavour and deliciously dry.
In 2007 the team looked Eastwards to Persia and discovered saffron, a rare, delicate fragrance notoriously difficult to capture. They macerate the finest Sargol saffron from North-Eastern Iran only using the filaments of the saffron resulting in the highest quality of aroma. The saffron is then blended with Gabriel Boudier’s London Dry Gin in the precise quantity required to bring out the flavours of the botanicals in the gin.
Enjoy Saffron Gin with a Fentimans Orange Tonic Water, rich gold in colour with an unparalleled flavour intensity that finishes in an exceptional saffron dryness.
Available to purchase online via Amazon. @gabrielboudier #Fentimans#SaffronGin#Gin#GabrielBoudier#French#GinAndTonic#Orange#Citrus
This week for #SpiritStories we have been exploring the magical, colour-changing Secret Garden gins from The Old Curiosity distillery.
In 2012 Hamish Martin and his wife bought a derelict plot of land on the outskirts of Edinburgh, it was there they laid the roots of the Secret Herb Garden. In 2016 Steve Ross joined Hamish as co-founder. A herbologist and a mixologist started experimenting with a joint passion for creating unique tipples from natural ingredients and over 50 years’ combined experience in the drinks trade.
It all began with Apothecary Rose, an ancient ingredient in tinctures and tonics, they discovered a natural reaction that can only be explained by the magic of nature: a natural colour change, and the beginning of Secret Garden Gin.
The Secret Herb Garden has over 600 naturally grown herbs and flowers. They’re all handpicked, distilled and infused to create three delicious floral gins. Each gin is 100% natural, with no artificial flavours or colouring, just nature distilled. -
Just add Fentimans Tonic Water and watch the Secret Garden Gin transform. A wonderful reaction created purely by the magic of nature.
