2016 - STIHL MS 261 C-M with M-Tronic technology - The chainsaw with STIHL M-Tronic technology was reduced in weight by more than 300g - with major gains in ergonomics and handling.

2016 - New ZAMA production site in the Philippines - A new production facility for carburettors from the subsidiary ZAMA is opened in the Philippines. The 40 million euro project is the largest construction investment in ZAMA's history to date.

With the STIHL modular battery system, the battery packs in the 36V class can be used in all STIHL cordless devices.
2001 - Hans Peter Stihl becomes Honorary President - Hans Peter Stihl resigns from his official positions with the DIHT and the Chamber of Industry and Commerce, becoming Honorary President of both organisations.
2005-2006 - STIHL founded in Bulgaria, Qingdao & India - STIHL focuses on sustainable development in central and eastern Europe and Asia. the new STIHL plant in Qingdao opens on th ecompany's 80th anniversary and a snew sales company is founded in Pune, India and is officially opened by HAns Peter Stihl on 16 January 2007.
2009 - Social market economy prize for the STIHL siblings - Hans Peter Stihl and Eva Mayr-Stihl are honoured with the Social Market Economy Prize presented by the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation at Paulskirche chruch in Frankfurt.
Product History (pictured): 1992 - BR 320 L blower - With the BR 320 L that is worn like a backback, STIHL introduces a quieter blower developed especially for use in noise-sensitive environments, such as health resorts. The 'air broom' clears large areas of leaves and debris quickly and economically.
1993 - High-pressure washer - STIHL rounds out its product range with high-pressure washers. The product includes cold and hot water washers in the hobby, mid-range and professional categories.
1994 - 020 T speciality saw - The speciality tree care saw is handy and can be guided with precision. It was developed especially for use by arborists and others while working in trees.
1997 - The new electric saws - The new E 140, E 160, E 180 C electric chainsaws with quick chain tensioner meet the highest standards, even in professional use and are particularly environmentally friendly.
1991 - Founding of STIHL Hungary - After the fall of the Iron Curtain, ANDREAS STIHL Kereskedelmi Kft. commences operation as STIHL's first own sales company in a former Warsaw Pact country.
1992 - VIKING / The third generation joins the ranks - Since 1 July 1992, STIHL has held 100% of the shares in the Austrian gardening implement manufacturer VIKING. The third generation - Dr Nikolas Stihl, the son of Hans Peter Stihl - joins the company that same year.
1996 - Andreas Stihl turns 100, STIHL turns 70 - STIHL celebratesits 70th anniversary and the 100th birthday of company founder Andreas Stihl. A street party for the employees is held at the Plant 1 site in Waiblingen.

1983 - BG 60 blower - Sweeping up fallen leaves is a breeze with the hand-operated 'air-broom'. 1986 - Multi-function handle for trimmers - Trimmers are equipped with the ergonomically designed multi-function handle for easy operation. It is used to control the motor functions.
1980 - Launch of STIHL France - Andreas Stihl S.A.R.L commences operation in France in April, maintaining local contacts with public authorities and forestry organisations.
1981 - Founding of STIHL Canada - The Canadian sales company STIHL Ltd. is founded on 2 March 1981.
1983 - New Zealand becomes STIHL country - STIHL founds a sales company in Auckland on 29 July 1983, which is officially opened one year later.
1985 - Founding of STIHL Spain - The sales company ANDREAS STIHL S.A. is founded in Spain and commences operation on 1 January 1985.
1986 - 60 years of STIHL - A street party for STIHL employees is held to mark the occasion at Plant 1, Waiblingen, in July.
1987 - Off to Northern Europe - With the founding of sales companies in Sweden and Norway, STIHL intensifies its sales and distribution efforts in Scandinavia.
Product History (pictured): 1971 - The new throttle lever lock and STIHL goes orange and light grey - The throttle lever lock, which is installed in all series chainsaws from this date forward, prevents the saw chain from starting unintentionally. From now on, all STIHL equipment around the world is orange and light grey.
1974 - STIHL 015 hobby chainsaw - With the 015, STIHL brings a chainsaw for hobby users to the market.
1977 - FS 80 trimmer - Already essential for the professional maintenance of green spaces, private gardeners are also starting to discover brushcutters. The FS 80 is one of the first trimmers, which is what a brushcutter in a very lightweight design is called.
1971 - STIHL Australia - The sales company STIHL Chain Saw (Aust.) Pty. Ltd is founded on the other side of the world.
1973 - STIHL in Brazil - STIHL founds a production and sales company in Brazil and it's plant in Sao Leopoldo is officially opened two years later.
1974 - STIHL comes to America - The production and sales company STIHL Inc. is founded in Virginia Beach.
1977 - New logo for STIHL - The new company logo is introduced on 1 January 1977. STIHL has continuously improved and expanded its broad product range ever since.
Product History (pictured): 1961 - The Contra's 'little sister' - STIHL 07 - The gearless 07 is presented at the industrial trade fair in Hanover. It is designed for use in moderate growth.
1963 - One for all - the STIHL 08 - The 08 marks the launch of a tool that is more than just a chainsaw - the engine is designed for multiple applications. Over time, attachments for new uses are released: the BT 308 two-person auger (1964), the TS 08 as the first STIHL cut-off saw (1964), the BT 309 one person auger (1966) and the FS 08 brushcutter (1966). 1968 - Electronic ignition system - With the 041 AV electronic chainsaw, an electronic ignition system ensures trouble free starting and optimum combustion for the first time.
1962 - For the first time, STIHL presents its extensive range of equipment for forest operations in a complete catalogue, which is published annually from then on.
1968 - Almost 40 years after the first sales office opened, 900 STIHL service centres with replacement parts on stock gaurantee advice and support across West Germany.
1969 - The one millionth chainsaw leaves the production line. Annual revenue exceeds 100 million marks for the first time.
