“Langbos Children’s Home” “A project to shelter and uplift vulnerable children in Langbos— an off-grid informal settlement in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.
The Home was constructed using #Superadobe, a low-cost, environmentally-friendly, earth building method intended to echo traditional earth building methods of indigenous South African cultures. It also allowed the project to train and employ 30 local Langbos residents, ranging from teenage boys to elderly grandmothers, who received a competitive wage and nutritious daily meals for the entirety of the six-month Superadobe construction. The Superadobe was taught and managed by @ecodomesafrica, and the Home was designed by @jasonerlankarchitects @intsikelelo #intsikelelo#recycling#biogas#solarenergy #southafrica#govamedia
