I dread photo shoots..but they're a necessary activity when you're in a band, or when you run your own business, etc, people want to see your face...know who they're connecting with. There was a hot second where I felt comfy in front of the camera but it didn't last long. For years, I would focus on criticizing myself on basically all the things many of us girls do...and now we have even more to contend with, with filters and special lighting on our phones...and don't even get me started on the airbrushed wonders of @snapchat filters . I admire how some can just 'be themselves' so easily in front of a device that captures moments and preserves them forever and ever, amen. As I am approaching my 36th trip around the sun, I am learning to embrace myself in a whole new way...learning to appreciate the uniqueness of my experiences and how they've all contributed to who I see back at me in the mirror and in photographs. I am so grateful for all that has built me up and torn me down. I know that I am strong and yet still don't even know my strength...so many more experiences to go. Just some thoughts as I look at this picture of me in my favorite woods, standing in front of a glorious old tree. Thank you so much @sciolidesign for always making photo shoots a fun experience and thank you especially for taking pics of us, @leomoondband, in the woods, on a supremely chilly day. You are awesome and I looooove all the pics. Can't wait to share more of them. #leomoon #
Oh the irony of teaching a class on herbalism and halfway through rattling off all the magickal and healing qualities of our plant friends, feeling a sudden “thing” on the back of your throat...the first warning of impending doom that is a gnarly cold or maybe even flu...who knows this year...there are a plethora of funky sicknesses being traded around like Garbage Pail Kids Cards (yes I said it...you know you loved them too!). That was what happened a few weeks ago for me as I wrapped up my first Kitchen Witch workshop. I have used ninja like folk medicine skills and strategies to avoid said “plague” that has hit almost everyone I know this year...and here I was...feeling like it had finally got me. Now before I go any further...what I am saying is NOT medical advice, nor is it meant as a blanket protocol for everyone...that’s the beauty of a functional approach...we are all beautiful and unique snowflakes of the universe (so many references today!) and need to be approached as such. In addition...herbalists get sick...healers get sick...the point is to know how to show up for the experience and embrace that time for all it’s worth...as best you can. Although I ended up keeping this “want to be infection” in the “friend zone” long enough for it leave me alone...sometimes, we are too tired, too stressed, not prepared with the right tools, and maybe our body is just like “SIT DOWN”...so when that happens, do that...and do it with love, nourishment, and nurturing. Read the rest on my blog (link in bio) and come to my Kitchen Witch Workshop at @besoulstudio next Wed, to discuss ways to nourish ourselves so we handle these kinds of things less frequently. #kitchenwitch#healinghawk
Little intentional blessing for those who need it. This is one of my all time favorite blessings from @tosha_silver, and one that has helped me work through many feelings of 'not (fill in the blank) enough' to receive good things in my life. As women, in particular, many of us are culturally taught that we are only worth receiving once we have given enough of ourselves (usually until we're about to break), or we have to measure up to superhero standards on the regular...and then...only when we have jumped through and barely survived this gauntlet...can we accept what gifts life has to offer us...and yet many times we still don't allow ourselves to receive. I think collectively we are shifting that concept and doing a damn good job of it too. Here's to all of us (men too ) knowing how to receive goodness into our lives and pass that on to each other. Ps. If you know me, I've already recommended @tosha_silver's books to you...so in case I haven't had a chance to push/recommend her work to you yet...go check it out. #gamechanger#favoriteauthor#toshasilver

I decided to make a page specifically for my @hawkcouture jewelry as my personal page is getting a bit crowded with the other endeavors I am involved in. Making jewelry is something I have done since I was a little girl...it's one of my favorite ways of spreading joy and love. I know how excited I get when I find a crystal or piece of jewelry that speaks to me on a deeper level...I just know it's a little companion to have with me during different chapters of my life. My hope is that the designs I create offer energetic and loving support for those who wear them, and that serve as reminders that they are not alone in whatever they are experiencing, both in the joys and the heartbreak. I infuse each piece with Reiki, basically meaning I infuse it with loving energy; and each piece is cleared with sunlight and moonlight by my altar and smudged before it makes its way to you. Typically I don't make the same piece twice, although there are some exceptions...so if a piece speaks to you, hop on it before it goes because crystals are one of a kind (like you!!). 15% Off my Etsy shop with Coupon Code "YOUAREMAGICK"
