This is the Bruges Whale -the official name is Skyscraper - built for the Bruges Triennial by @studiokca out of 5 tons of plastic waste pulled out of the ocean - "a powerful reminder of the 150,000,000 of plastic waste still swimming in our waters", choking marine animals and contaminating the environment. A traditional Kushti wrestling akhara (school) in Varanasi, India, by Matt Parry. Every month, Guardian Travel runs a readers' photography competition, and this is the winning shot for June. Matt says: "Siya Ram, aged 64, has been training at the school for 13 years. He is hanging upside down and doing stomach crunches as part of his warm-up regime." Our judge, @mick_ryan_fotovue, says: "It would have been so easy for the photographer to take a wider contextual composition, but this perspective - with the shallow depth of field isolating the man in the foreground - is masterful." #varanasi #india #streetphotography

Another side of Tuscany by @mycamera.n.me. In a quieter corner of the popular Italian province are the Cascate del Mulino - a natural spa with a waterfall at a constant temperature of 37C that forms a cascade of natural pools. Just outside the town of Saturnia in southern Tuscany, entry is free and mostly used by locals. A local gem. #saturnia #tuscany #italy

How cool is this? A road across a lake and long summer days in Finland posted by @joonaslinkola. The Pulkkilanharju Ridge is an 8km line of islands that are linked by bridges that run across Lake Paijanne in southern Finland, and cover the Paijanne National Park, an area of forests, lagoons and wildlife. #päijännne #finland #summer
