I haven't forgotten about our human heroes, fear not, they're next! Of course I'm talking about Logan, Marjory and Kasmeer, but here is a bit of general human lore first. Let's start with their in-game description: 🏺 Humans have lost their homeland, their security, and their former glory. Even their gods have withdrawn. And yet, the human spirit remains unshaken. These brave defenders of Kryta continue to fight with every ounce of their strength. 🏺 Humans didn’t originally come from Tyria but were brought there for unknown reasons from an unknown world by their six gods. They quickly spread an became the most dominant race for quite awhile, though they’ve been dwindling for a long time now. Their gods have been silent for centuries and they have been driven or seperated from a lot of their former lands, yet they don’t give up. 🏺 Human culture is more varied to that of other races. Though most humans still worship the Six they have created vastly different nations across Tyria over the centuries, like Kryta, Cantha and Elona. 🏺 Leave a comment if you'd like to learn a bit more about these seperate nations. If it's popular I'll take the time to write it out ^^

Taimi is an asura progeny and the apprentice of Zojja, though she doesn’t seem particularly interested in studying Synergetics. She needs her golem Scruffy to get around, as she suffers from a degenerative disease that prevents her from walking long distances and may spread to other parts of her body as she gets older. There is no known cure yet Taimi refuses any offer of pity. 🌀 She greatly respected, even admired, Scarlet’s intelligence and ingenuity and expressed a desire to meet her. It was Taimi who successfully researched ley line energy and exposed a weakness in the asura waypoint network and later discovered Omadd's machine, a device used by Scarlet to look into the Eternal Alchemy. 🌀 During the Maguuma campaign Taimi and the team learned of a lost asura city called Rata Novus, which greatly interested the progeny. She stayed behind because Scruffy got badly damaged and wasn’t present during the final battle with Mordremoth, but she was happy to study the research the Rata Novians had left behind. 🌀 If it isn’t clear that Taimi is the brains of the operation yet she also is the one who first linked an imbalance in magic to the death of the two Elder Dragons and has given the Commander many other insights. She is usually cheerful and enthusiastic, but tends to overwork herself which might lead her to make mistakes.
Zojja is a famous asura elementalist, golemancer and a member of the College of Synergetics. She has a personal golem called Mr. Sparkles and is mentor to Taimi. Zojja was the apprentice of the even more famous inventor Snaff until he died during a failed attempt to defeat Kralkatorrik. 🌀 Zojja is a snarky female asura with a short temper, especially if someone dares suggest something negative about Snaff. She wasn’t always as mindful of him while he was still alive, often thinking she knew better than him. Perhaps she regrets treating her beloved mentor that way now. 🌀 She seems to have a particular distaste for the Inquest, an asura mega krewe with little regard to the wellbeing of their test subjects, other asura included. This krewe doesn’t only want to understand the Eternal Alchemy, but master it. Another former apprentice of Snaff by the name of Kudu is a high-ranking member of the Inquest. 🌀 She began blaming their leader, Eir Stegalkin, for Snaff’s death and was unwilling to work with her until shortly before the final confrontation with the Elder Dragon Zhaitan. The group managed to help the Pact defeat the dragon, but when the fleet went down during a similar attack on Mordremoth she was captured and weakened. She hasn’t recovered so far, and there is gossip among researchers in Rata Novus that Zojja is ‘scrambled’ and ‘drooling’.
Next up are our asura heroes Taimi and Zojja. Let’s have a look at some asura lore starting with the in-game description: 🌀 These alchemagical inventors may be short in stature, but they're intellectual giants. Among the asura, it's not the strong who survive, but the clever. Other races believe they should rule by virtue of their power and strength, but they're deluding themselves. In due time, all will serve the asura. 🌀 Asura are a short race with large heads, shark-like teeth and big ears. Males and females might look similar to other races, who have to rely on their voices to tell the difference. Their ears have a significantly different structure though, which may serve as a tell to the initiated. 🌀 They are an incredibly smart race that values brain power over anything else, but they can be paranoid and egotistical, resulting in a loss of knowledge when an individual dies. Other races often find them arrogant, but when an asura speaks one would be wise to heed them. Even the slowest among them could still outsmart most non-asura. 🌀 Asura believe in a concept called the Eternal Alchemy - the idea that everything and everyone is like a cog in the machine of the Universe. This includes beings like the human gods, who the asura don’t think worthy of worship as they are just bigger or differently shaped cogs. The asura seek to understand the Eternal Alchemy, which would basically be a theory of everything. 🌀 They are originally a subterranean race, but were chased up to the surface hundreds of years ago when Primordus's dragon champion, The Great Destroyer, used their gate network to swarm them with destroyers. This resulted in the annihilation of most of their civilization and, as far as we know, all of their original cities. As a result a lot of their history is lost. Some say the magi-technological marvel that is Rata Sum is just a pale shadow of the cities they inhabited underground. Whatever the case they aren't planning to budge ever again, not for dragons, not for anyone.
Rytlock Brimstone is a Blood Legion Tribune, a rank that makes him a primary commander in the Legion. He is a member of the original Destiny’s Edge and currently Dragon’s Watch. He possesses Sohothin, a legendary human sword given to them by their gods. It is unclear how he came to wield the blade.🔥 He long held a grudge against Logan, a human he befriended first meeting on opposite sides of a battlefield, because he left the group on the eve of their battle against Kralkatorrik. Destiny’s Edge was defeated and lost Snaff and Glint in the process, for which Rytlock considered Logan responsible. They’ve only recently buried the hatched and managed to work together to defeat Zhaitan with the Pact. 🔥 He became convinced he had found a way to reverse the Foefire, a terrible spell that makes human ghosts appear and re-appear all over Ascalon and fight the charr in an unending battle. One of the key elements was his blade Sohothin, but the ritual failed and the sword was sucked into the Mists. Rytlock quickly followed before the portal closed as he believed there was no way to dispel the ghosts without it. 🔥 During his travels in the mists he became the first Revenant, someone that can channel the Mists themselves to invoke the powers of legendary figures of the pasts. When he first appeared during the Maguuma campaign he was tight-lipped about his experiences in the Mists, but he did have his blade and must have trained others as more and more revenants appeared. 🔥 More of what happened to him is revealed in #GW2PoF so I'd recommend playing through that if you haven't already.
