horsing around today @damesvilleyarns. just debuted my Sheepy Silkpaca DK line over there. i'm not taking myself seriously at all with that base name. pictured is a damaged skein i'm keeping for myself. it was very experimental: i vaguely remember dyeing it and kinda remember what i did... i've been dyeing up a storm and building my etsy shop, but in the meantime i'm knitting another gorgeous pima cotton shirt and considering casting this on as a shawl! what are you making? .
I'm pleased to announce something I've been working on for a while: I'm opening shop on Etsy! I've created Damesville to share my love of color and expression with fellow makers. You'll find fun, vibrantly handpainted sock yarn, alpaca/merino/silk single DKs that feel as soft as clouds, and smooth pima cotton fingering weight in shades that inspire. Follow @damesvilleyarns - my endeavor to provide you with the materials to make awesome projects, whatever they may be!
Handknitsweater will remain the fiber arts laden goodness it is - I'll be excited to blog more in the coming months about building an ethical, conscious, handmade, thrifted and vintage focused wardrobe of fashions. My love of fiber arts has always been driven by my voracious clotheshorsedness.
I'm soooo excited and I hope you are too! Flip through to see some of the colorways I've been working on.
spinning up some of the raw romney wool i purchased at gore place. the sheep's name is candy and she lives in westport, ma. fiber processing is a lot of work but i'm used to it. the coral bands of color you see are from me throwing some of her wool in a simmering dyepot with an avocado pit and a bit of onion skin for a few hours! i am now spinning with undyed and natural dyed rolags/piles of carded fleece. #wool#spinningfiber#spinningwheel#igyarnspinners#ethicalfashion#handmade#handspun#woolen
