I had the day off today so I thought I'd do a spot of housework then clean & prep some salmon roe. イクラ "ikura". After removing the eggs ( very difficult ) a quick wash then a dash of soy sauce. Chill then serve.
Back in Sapporo after a fairly average time in Yokohama/ Tokyo. Awesome catching up with @jesse737 and co! Come to Hokkaido next time!
First stop was Sora Ramen at New Chitose Airport. This company is making waves across the world. With shops in South East Asia and the USA with more on the way.
A little pricey at the airport, but I don't care!
Happy to announce an awesome foodies tour on the 1st of July!
Do you like Sea-urchin?
Well, have your fill at the Kamoenai Uni festival!
This part of Hokkaido can be really tough to get but our friends @iwanairesort have got you covered.
This tour includes transfers, festival, and guided tours of some impressive historical sites. The oldest in Hokkaido in fact.
Initially the tour will only be offered from Iwanai, however we can arrange travel for big groups from Sapporo.
For more info follow the instructions on the poster!
Don't miss out on this unique event.
Hope to see you there!
By spreading flower petals and other natural materials on the ground, volunteers will make large pictures.

Hi Explorers! Introducing the very first and hopefully annual "Explorer's meet-up"! Catch-up, meet new people, learn more about Hokkaido or just come for the food. "まんまみ～や" is one of my favorite restaurants in Japan.
We will enjoy a course menu consisting of seasonal veggies, fresh fish and other tasty treats! 2 hour all you can drink plan is also included.
Course is ¥4,000 per person.
I hope you can make it.
A Traditional Shinto Festival in June with a Dazzling Parade and Bustling Stalls
June 14–16, 2018
The main festival of Hokkaido Shrine—also called the Sapporo Festival—has a history going back over a century. On June 16, the final day, a line of more than a thousand people in colorful Heian period costumes parades around the city, along with four "mikoshi" portable shrines and eight floats. The parade starts at Hokkaido Shrine in Maruyama and reaches central Sapporo in the afternoon, passing along major avenues lined with spectators. Traditional dedication ceremonies are held at the shrine, where many festival stalls are also set up. Stalls and other attractions, including a haunted house, are also featured at Nakajima Park.
If you're in Japan or travelling to Japan and want to have fun without letting it all go to your gut? Or are on a Keto diet or Paleo?
In recent years Japanese beer companies have introduced low carb/ sugar beers. At first they tasted awful, but they're getting better and better.
This one "Nodogoshi" made by Kirin is quite refreshing.
Let us know what your favourites are.
It has been a very cool couple of days but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy warm weather treats.
This is "Katsuo" bonito that is seared lightly and cut into delicious mouth sized pieces. Top with some fresh or roasted garlic or wasabi and wash it down with a beer
Best eaten outside with friends on a hot summer day! Best of all you can buy this at the supermarket ! FYI this is the same kind of fish used to make the moving fish flakes you see on Japanese dishes.
Came across this at the supermarket. Clear Coca-Cola! Launched just this week and apparently only available in Japan Containing a dash of lemon that's quite refreshing however it doesn't taste like coke. What do you think? Have you tried it already?
Let us know your thoughts.
A shame it's raining, but I'm sure Hokkaido could use a little
What are you planning to do this weekend? Let us know in the comments below.
For me. Staying in never looked so good
Have a good one Explorers!
I think I may have purchased the last cans in Sapporo!
Love this beer. Full taste but not full on the alcohol like many Japanese beers are.
Please @suntory_jp make this a regular not limited edition beer!
