Some behind the scenes news.
Cinematographer Checco Varese has joined the team for Chapter II.
From Collider:
“It’s interesting to see Andy Muschietti changing things up, but it also makes sense. IT: Chapter Two takes place 27 years after the events of the first film, as the Losers Club must reunite as adults to take on Pennywise once more. Given the massive time jump, Muschietti might be looking for a strikingly different aesthetic to drive home the passage of time. If that’s what he’s going for, this is going to make for a very fascinating double feature.”
Welcome to Derry, Mr Varese.

So, so sad to learn of the passing of the great Harry Anderson. An extraordinary actor who leaves behind some big shoes to fill. May our beloved original Richie Tozier rest in peace, he will be missed by so many.

With Chapter 2 on the horizon, I thought it would be a good time to discuss what might be coming up for our Losers as they return to Derry 27 years later. What part of the book would you like to see in the new movie? Be as unrealistic as you want, pretend the budget is limitless.
For me:
1. Adrian Mellon. I’d love to see that section of the book (which is one of my favourite chapters) come to life. Some have searched high and low for subtle hints of homosexuality in the story, well there was nothing subtle about Adrian and Don.
2. Bev meeting Mrs Kersh. Now that we know older Bev will be played by Jessica Chastain, I can’t even contain my excitement at how good this scene would unfold. Especially when the language used by Pennywise when he pretending to be her father is far more graphic than the mini series.
3. Henry Bowers being driven to the motel by Belch. It’s another part of the book that stands out for me and I want to see older Henry with the friend who never aged.
4. The reunion dinner scene. In the book Mike told them a tale about a recent victim of Pennywise’s, a two year old, whose mother went mad when she discovered him dead in the toilet IIRC. It’s brutal.
Go for it, kids. I’d love to hear what you loved in the book or the mini series that was never shown or could be bettered.

Sunday, effing Sunday.

May your weekend be this subdued.
