I have always struggled with backbends. Some days I think I need to work on β€œopening my heart” more in both the physical and emotional sense, but other days I think that’s a load of BS (sshh, don’t tell my chakra πŸ€«πŸ˜‰) β€” maybe this is just my body.⁣
So now what? πŸ€·β™€β£
I bring awareness to my posture on and off the mat, and integrate backbends into my practice that are accessible to my body, such as Cobra, Sphinx/Seal and Supported Fish. I also just recently tried Bow Pose with a bolster, shown here, and it made a huge difference to have that support under my belly. ⁣
You will probably never see me in full spinal extension, and that is perfectly fine with me. We may not be able to do everything, but we can always do something. πŸ’šβ£

Introducing our newest team member and Social Media Co-ordinator, Hannah Strout.
Hannah is a creative producer with a passion for animals (especially her cat, Dr. Professor), board games, spreadsheets, and power clashing patterns and colours.
Before moving to Melbourne and joining the Iyogaprops team, Hannah worked in Sydney developing and managing artistic programs for young people and emerging artists.
Outside of Iyogaprops, Hannah regularly attends @yarravilleyogacentre, manages @crackxfestival, and works with artists around Australia to produce arts and cultural events.
Although she is yet to do much exploring in Victoria, Hannah is an avid hiker and just last year spent 9 days on the Overland Track in Tasmania. Drop your best hiking suggestions for her in the comments.
