We're all about the Chair this month, and of course we had to share this wonderful post from one of our faves @carrieowerko for #fitfriday . . . I love to offer supported variations of inverted poses using a chair, especially at the end of a long and challenging class. Shoulder stand is a great pose for recovery, and practicing it with the chair gives us the opportunity to relax and expand in an an inverted pose in ways that the un-supported variations might not. We used blocks under the shoulder here, as there were not quite enough blankets in the hall. The blocks offer a firm and precise support. Try a bolster under the shoulders if you prefer a softer surface. . . .#shoulderstand#inversions#chairyoga#yogavariations#ChristaMoser#practiceplay
An excellent little infographic #repost on chair yoga from @soy_yoguineta And an article on chair yoga as a treatment for osteoarthritis over on our Facebook today. Happy Sunday! . . . Yoga Chair para cualquier momento y lugar. #yogachair#yogaoffice#yogatime
👏🏆PROP OF THE MONTH: CHAIRS 🏆👏 While you may think it a humble household object, the chair is a fundamental prop in yoga that can support and deepen your practice. Our iYoga chair (and the clip-on Benger backbend extension) has been custom-designed by David Spratt and Peter Harley of iYogaprops.
We love #modificationmonday! And here's a neat series of modifications for Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose) from @iyogaproject . . . HERE’S FOUR, THERE ARE MORE. Just four ways to develop Baddha Konasana with the assistance of the wall and bricks. The placement of the sitting bones is also important for correct alignment. Sit quietly and turn your conscious attention to the weight under the right and left sitting bones. Are they even? Notice if you hit hard into the front inner sitting bones it actually increases tension in the groins. Explore the distribution of weight and where it releases the pelvis. This will also inform other poses, including lateral standing poses. #trysomethingnew#yogaaustralia#yogaspiration#yogaworkshop#yoga#yogapose#iyengaryoga#iyogaproject#yogasydney#yogaprops ( #📷 @iyogaproject )
