We want to say a big thank you to Councilman Scott Wilson and Ms. Jackie Lee for visiting our young leaders at our Northside Center today! Councilman Wilson spoke to our students about his school days at RV Daniels Elementary School on the Northside, listened to one of our courageous young leaders recite his Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. poem in front of all of his peers, and he even learned the floss dance! 😃 Thank you Councilman Wilson for investing in our youth!
MEET A PAL: Today, we want to actually introduce you to two of our PALs, Jay Prather and Justin King. (Jay is pictured on the left and Justin on the right with our Executive Director A.C. Lakesha Burton.) We couldn’t achieve our mission without the hard work of our wonderful, dedicated volunteers. As seniors majoring in Public Relations at the University of North Florida, Jay and Justin are both completing their senior internship with us here at JaxPAL. Fun fact, they are both former PAL kids! Jay played football right here at JaxPAL and Justin played basketball at the Daytona PAL. They've both come full circle now with PAL as alum who played in youth sports programs to now gaining hands-on work experience and giving back to JaxPAL kids! #PALTodayLeaderforLife#jaxpal
MEET A PAL: Sam Waarum is a JaxPAL alum and a prime example of "PAL Today... Leader for Life." Sam is the oldest daughter of our longtime PAL officer and boxing program coordinator, Ofc. Tom Waarum. Sam grew up playing in our athletic program. Sam recently graduated from The Citadel. While attending, Sam was a captain of the school's Division I women’s soccer team and its cheer team. Now as a graduate senior and a member of the women's soccer team at the University of West Florida, she is one of only 14 players to have earned D2CCA All-America Second Team Honors. Away from her cleats and the soccer field, Sam tackles a different kind of competition--pageants--and is just as successful! Sam has been crowned Ms. Freedom USA and Ms. Isle of Palms, and recently was a contestant of the Ms. South Carolina (USA) pageant. We are so proud of Sam and in awe of her talent, drive, and poise.
Happy New Year! Here's to welcoming this year with a smile, a spirit of giving, a sense of humanity, and a pledge to spread peace and happiness. May your year be full of joy, health, prosperity, and love! #jaxpal

It's girls night here at JaxPAL! We're just getting the night started at our 4th Annual DNA Unique Slumber Party. We've partnered with Generation WOW to create a Night of WOWsdom! for the girls. #DNAUnique#GirlEmpowerment#jaxpal
300 represents the number of students to date that our officers have sat down and had lunch with. Today, we made our 19th visit to a local school as part of our Lunch with a PAL (Cop) outreach initiative. When our officers arrived at River Oak Center they were met with some resistance by many of the students. However, by the end of the lunch they were able to bridge the gap! At JaxPAL, we will always be intentional about listening, engaging in dialogue, and fostering positive relationships between law enforcement officers and the youth in our city! We have to say a special thank you to Dan Renaud for the invitation to visit today and for your dedication to your students! Also, thank you Sylvester Pinckney, Assistant Director of Community Engagement for Kids Hope Alliance, for sharing with the youth today. And, of course, we have to say a very big thank you to our 2018 Lunch with a PAL sponsor and one of our amazing community partners, Taco Bell. #BridgingtheGAP#InvestingInOurYouth#LunchwithaCop#LunchwithaPAL#jaxpal
