Thanks Berlin! You were fun Back home now for a cheeky run around Austraya first stop Golden Plains. Special thanks to tour angels Rachel who kept our tee shirt sales quota up to scratchJoel who made us sound our very best Ellen who kept a calm demeanor even when the kids were fighting in the van and Anika aka @hachikumusic for opening our show in style every night. And lastly thanks to all of you for coming out in the middle of winter to see a rock show
Love this photo of Courtney by Jennifer Sanson in Brighton last weekend. We play the last show in BERLIN tonight after an epic tour that has taken us across the U.S, France, Netherlands, U.K and Germany. Every single audience and show has gone beyond my wildest dreams. Sharing a stage with my dear friend @miadyson and watching people discover how INCREDIBLE she is was worth it alone. I never imagined that at the age of 44 I’d be playing my first ever headline tour around the world AND selling out each night! I have to constantly pinch myself just to make sure I’m awake.
For so long I held limited beliefs that as a woman your career was over if you hadn’t made it by your early 30’s. These were ideas that were sold to me via a largely misogynistic industry but also ideas I ran with. I’m so happy I am rid of them today. Fuck that shit! I acknowledge that having a successful partner and a supportive team working behind the album have helped to make this release something out of the ordinary but I also reckon it’s a sign that the times are changing and that YOU the people who come out and support independent music have the POWER to change things up. I love my band @sholaki@bonessloane and @courtneymelba who have supported me every step of the way in making this album (and many others before this). As anyone will attest who has come out to see us play, this is a real, living, breathing band with a rare chemistry. I am so lucky
Courtney announced her new album ‘Tell Me How You Really Feel’ today. I watched her go through all sorts of things making this record but I love what came out the other side. Sometimes the only way out is through. Her songs sound effortless, her guitar playing absolutely kickass. Dave, Bones, Dan and Burke have all helped realise this record beautifully. I can’t wait for you all to hear it!
View from Sholaki’s throne last night in London. Look at those beautiful mugs! Thanks for coming down and making it one of our favourite shows so far. We play the Manchester at the @deafinstitute tonite (sold out) @hachikumusic 7:45 JC Band 8:45
