Sappy post warning:
When I first met Gerardo, I was completely ecstatic considering he was the first other Hispanic that I met in the theatre company. I’ve looked up to him ever since I’ve first seen him act, and he has been one of my main inspirations throughout the process of the show. It’s been a long, grueling six weeks, but walking in one last time with this guy made me reflect of how much fun I’ve had with this production. By far, one of the best shows I’ve ever worked on. The only show that I can truly say that I’ve connected with emotionally. I overcame many mental blocks and challenges, but by the end of it, overcoming those challenges made me realize that you can truly do anything as long as you put your mind to it and gain the confidence for it. There were a lot of times where I wanted to give up, but I had friends like Gerardo that were always there to remind me that the payoff would always be worth it. And he was right. This show will always be very dear to my heart, and Gerardo will always be my Usnavi. Thank you for everything man, I love you.
I haven’t posted in quite a few weeks, and that is because me and all these beautiful talented people have been working on a little something called In the Heights! The show premieres Wednesday, February 21st-24th. Tickets are $10!
