Hello, world! Meet four love-struck Pacific parrotlets named Winter, Sprig, River and Willow (@freyaeverafter_). “They are tiny parrots with huge personalities,” says Rupa Sutton, their human. “They can be very sweet, but feisty.” For example: “Last month, we decided to welcome Willow into the crew in hopes of her and River making a love connection. Instead, there’s been lots of drama — Sprig fell in love with Willow and left Winter, Winter was seen flirting with River, and River, who initially gave Willow the cold shoulder, decided he wanted her after all. Thankfully the birds have paired up and are once again a happy flock.”

Photo by @paolowoods From my project RadioHaiti on the importance of small local radios in the Caribbean island. Radio Men Kontre 95,5 FM. Men Kontre (“united hands” in Creole) is the radio of the Catholic diocese of Les Cayes. Sister Melianise Gabreus is one of the stars of the radio. Even if there are no official figures, father Elysee, which runs the radio, says that lots of people tune in for Sister’s Melianise’s program on daily life advice. Top Shot: Getting Your Early Morning Ducks in a Row | Photograph by Aleš K. (@dreamypixels)
A mother duck swims with her ducklings during an early morning at Lake Bled, Slovenia. Your Shot Producer David Y. Lee (@davidylee) writes, “I agree with #YourShotPhotographer Don Cayo who commented, ‘Wonderful light and colour. Your reward for getting up early.’ This is so beautiful Aleš. I see a lot of photos of Lake Bled, so I like the inclusion of these ducks swimming by — this extra visual layer is fantastic. I like how quiet this moment feels. What a gorgeous way to start the day. Well done.” This photo was selected for July 19, 2018 Daily Dozen.

Top Shot features the photo with the most votes from the previous day’s Daily Dozen, 12 photos chosen by the Your Shot editors from thousands of recent uploads. Our community votes for their favorite photo from the selection, and the Top Shot is showcased on the @natgeoyourshot Instagram account.

Am a big fan of the color of everyday life. After visits to nearby VOIMMA Community Park and Andasibe-Mantadia National Park to check out the lemurs and other wildlife, we took a walk through the nearby village of Andasibe. Pick-up football, local markets, and makeshift foosball tables featured prominently. Draws from the local well, too. This is Madagascar.

Photo by @FransLanting At this time of year wildebeest are pouring into Kenya’s Maasai Mara reserve as part of their annual migration around the larger Serengeti grasslands that stretch across northern Tanzania and southern Kenya. It’s an awesome sight to behold and it confirms the vital need to protect Serengeti/Maasai Mara as an integrated ecosystem, but there are many conflicting interests on the horizon that jeopardize the future of this epic phenomenon.
