Remember when we discussed “good artists copy, great artists steal”? @austinkleon “gets” it! I am specifically intrigued by the Forbes review … “Equal parts manifesto and how-to, Steal Like An Artist aims to introduce readers to the idea that all creative work is iterative, no idea is original and all creators and their output are a sum of inspirations and heroes…”—Forbes #austinkleon

Funky Cookie Studio … we started this little adventure in September of 2014 with a five-year plan in mind. As we entered our fifth year, we decided it was time to put our Studio space on the market, thinking that it would take at least a year to sell — to our surprise, we received an offer within a few weeks. Little did we realize how quickly the time would pass and how much we would discover along the way. What we learned along the way is that it is always more than just a cookie; it is about the people. It is about their stories … the happy couple who stopped in the morning after their wedding and subsequently stopped in a year later with a little baby bump; the young mother who bought cookies for her son’s first birthday celebration since being cured of cancer and each birthday after that; the Vietnam Vet who recently returned from an Honor Flight; the grieving parents of a daughter or son taken too soon; the people who admired the artwork and were thrilled to discover how delicious they tasted; the grandparents who sent cookies to their grandchildren who lived far from them; the teachers who selflessly bought cookies for their students; the dad who picked out special cookies for each of his children and had them guess which cookie represented each child; the cookiers who visited the Studio and took time to visit and “talk cookie”; the amazing people who bought dozens and dozens of cookies just to hand out to others as a random act of kindness. So many cookies, so many stories, so many amazing people! Our goal, from the very beginning, was to simply spread a little joy in the form of delicious, artistic cookies. Our mission statement became clear after three of the most amazing women on the planet gave us a piece of artwork ... "Be bold. Be loving. Be original. Be crazy. Be thankful. Be kind. Be yourself." Hopefully we fulfilled both our goal and mission with joy, grace and gratitude. Thank you all so much for your support during our 4 year/4 month journey! Jill + Gep (John)
