This is one of the NEW prints I've just released! NIGHTWATCH by #JimFitzPatrick One of my own favourite seasonal images.
This evocation of the spirit of ancient monastic Ireland is a reconstruction of a lost work that ‘disappeared’ way back. To reproduce this artwork I went back to the image printed on a Christmas card, scanned it hi-res and worked for many hours restoring it to somewhere as close as possible to the original art.

NEWGRANGE Co.MEATH. By #JimFitzPatrick According to Arthur C. Clarke, author of 2001, Newgrange is the oldest building in the entire world. This gigantic, mystical monument was over 5,000 years ago over an older edifice of wood in the Boyne Valley. Even today it holds the imagination with its portal light box tuned to the winter and summer solstices and its astounding and mysterious carvings of still undeciphered celestial symbols.

Morrigan Silver Poster 1972 Original Vintage Poster by #JimFitzPatrick For the first time since their original printing, I am making these vintage posters available. To buy the poster go to link in bio then Original Posters.
The photos are of the actual print so you can see the quality and condition. These posters are in very good condition but may have minor defects.
Part of a pair with Morrigan these posters are lithograph prints, size 20”x30”, printed on high-quality gloss art paper. Of all of my early posters these two were among my very best artistically and the seeds of my later, more elaborate, Celtic artwork were well and truly sown here in 1972 with these two works.
The influence of Mucha was slowly permeating my work and these two are classics of their time -and sold superbly. One reason was simple -they were nearly always bought as a set. The nudity passed without notice save for one minor condemnation in our national press but that was normal in those days. Macha and Morrigan were both beautiful war goddesses of the legendary Tuatha Dé Danann and were, together with the war-goddess Nemain, were known collectively as ‘The Babhb’ ferocious Valkyrie-type harbingers of death, destruction, and ultimate doom.
For the first time since their original printing, I am making these vintage posters available to my newsletter subscribers. The photos are of the actual silkscreen print so you can see the quality and condition.
Robert ‘Bobby’ Kennedy was another one of my heroes who was assassinated like so many who stood up to the evils in American society.
I was a fanatical admirer of both JFK and brother Robert Kennedy and even today that admiration has not diminished. Thanks to the intervention of Bobby Kennedy US Chief of Staff, Curtis LeMay (‘Bombs away with Curtis LeMay’) was refused permission to invade or nuke Cuba after the Bay of Pigs disaster and during the Cuban Missile Crisis. ‘We do not do Pearl Harbours’, was his reply to LeMay’s demand for a surprise attack and undeclared war on the Cuban mainland.

Love 1968 Original Vintage Silkscreen Print by #JimFitzPatrick To buy this poster go to link in bio then Original Vintage Posters.
There are slight colour differences in almost every print from the original process used.
My first attempt at a real psychedelic poster using vivid Day-Glo inks and hand-screened graduated tones. Unfortunately, my art skills were just a little under-developed and this was a cool learning curve for both myself and the printer who had never been asked to print a graduated tone before but they did a great job too silk-screen printing this beauty.
It is worth noting that this is also my very first attempt to use Celtic motifs, though the larger circles were meant to represent the triple spirals of Newgrange and Irish Megalithic art.
Coffee in Brown Thomas today with my fantastic artist friend Sara O’Neill who was showing her beautiful art and designs in BT today. I love the way this iconic Irish store showcases Irish art and design. We had a laugh too. Always good to catch up, hang out and people watch. #brownthomas#saraoneill#saraoneillartist#irishart#irishdesign #
Philip Lynott Portrait 1979 by #JimFitzPatrick To buy the print and give a Lizzy fan a gift to remember go to Link in Bio! Philip Lynott Portrait Print. This is my all-time favorite portrait of Philip -and Philip loved it too. The very tight pencil drawing was originally prepared for the man himself for an illustrated book of his lyrics.
THE STORY OF THE DRAWING ——————————————- This is my all-time favorite portrait of Philip -and Philip loved it too. The very tight pencil drawing was originally prepared for the man himself for an illustrated book of his lyrics. Philip had a real love of poetry and for all the macho stuff he used as a distraction he was easily hurt. I tried to portray this sensitivity in this portrait. A painted version of this work was also used on the cover of the Decca album, ‘Saga of the Ageing Vagabonds’. The original artwork is quite a small and detailed work, about 8”x10”, so the print really shows it properly -and does it justice.
