Photo by @shonephoto (Robbie Shone) - An Italian explorer carefully picks her way through dense undergrowth in search of caves on top of Sarisariñama Tepui, Venezuela.
This photograph is from a portfolio I made from extremely remote tepuis (aka table-top mountains) in Venezuela. The scientists we were traveling with were looking for unique bacteria that could help clinical microbiologists in studies into bacterial resistance to antibiotics. It was a fascinating assignment to a very remote and rarely visited part of our world. The diverse environment on top of these tepuis is like no other anywhere on planet Earth, as each tepui is different and home to a unique world. And as for the caves... they're even better! Stay tuned.

Photo by @taylorglenn // The Perito Moreno Glacier in Argentina is unlike most glaciers in that it is advancing rather than retreating. From the viewing platform you can observe blocks of ice, some several stories high, fall from the edge of the glacier into Lago Argentino. Witnessing the power and energy of this are hard to put into words. #argentina #glacier #patagonia // Check out my feed @taylorglenn for more travel adventure around the globe.

I’ve been quiet on Instagram the last several days because I’ve been very sick. I’m in Salta, Argentina and I came down with a very bad cold when I was in Patagonia. I was caught out in the rain while hiking on a glacier. Toss in the cold temperatures and high winds and viola!……sick.

I’m attending the Adventure Travel World Summit here in Salta and when not at the event, I’ve spent almost all my time in my hotel room sleeping and trying to recover.

End result? Not a lot of activity on Instagram.

I’m feeling much better now, however. Still have a bit of a cough, but other than that, the major symptoms are gone.

I’m here in Salta for 3 more nights and then I head back to US. I’ll be home in Minneapolis for 6 days before I head to Portland, Oregon for another conference. After that I head to London for what I hope will be my last big conference of the year. If you are in Portland or London, let me know if you’d like to meet up.

Hydra by night. A perfect long weekend getaway. In mid-September, the heat backs off and the water is still warm. A long trek or two gives good coverage of the island. Food is excellent, especially if fish and seafood are your thing and you don't mind feta, local cheeses, and Greek wine. Throw in an afternoon boat ride along the southwestern shore, a few dips in the Gulf of Hydra, some late afternoon strolls and a lie-in or two and you'll have the makings for a perfect shoulder/mid-season break.
