We had a scheduled fetal assessment in Winnipeg at 22weeks into hunters pregnancy. During the ultrasound, the doctors seen that hunters cervix was dilating and told us that she would go into labour within the week and that hunter would require an emergency surgery to hopefully prolong the pregnancy but it wasn't certain. The next day hunter went though her surgery and was admitted to the hospital for a week. The doctors in Winnipeg told us that they hope we make it to 30 weeks but they did not think she would. While all this was happening in Winnipeg, Hunters mom Leata was back home working the phones to get hunter the best care possible. She arranged for us to come to Toronto to stay with Hunters auntie so hunter could be closer to better medical care that needed.
I will forever be grateful for Hunter's mom who not only arranged Hunters move to Toronto, but also for staying in Toronto with Hunter while I had to return to work. I am also grateful for Hunters Aunt for opening up her home and supporting us all through this.
I am so proud of Hunter! She took every step she could to make sure our babies were safe and on March 15 at 31 weeks and 5 days, we welcomed Fisher Bineshii Stevens at 5:31pm and Fawn Elizabeth Stevens at 5:34pm into the world. These babies have a long road ahead of them but they are tough just like their mama and grandparents I'm the happiest man in the world!
