Group Meal | Photograph by Vadim Balakin (@vadimbalakin)
"Bubble net feeding is a unique technique employed by humpback whales, in which a group of whales swim in a shrinking circle blowing bubbles below a school of fish," says #YourShotPhotographer Vadim Balakin, who got this aerial shot off the coast of Antarctica. "This shrinking column of bubbles surrounds the school of fish forcing them upward."

Photo by @nicholesobecki | Portrait of Ebola survivor Aisha Ramzani Djadi, 17, in the bedroom of her home in Beni, Democratic Republic of Congo. When she first became ill, Aisha was pregnant and she lost the baby during her treatment. She is just one of many in this central African nation caught between the promise of new anti-Ebola measures and the barriers to their success: widespread fear, mistrust of foreign-run medical relief efforts, and general unrest fed by armed militias, poverty, and despair. As she works to rebuild her life in the wake of great loss, Aisha has returned to care for others fighting the virus at the Ebola Treatment Center in Beni. "I'd like to have more children in the future,” she told me, a nearby window casting light across her young face within the shadowy room where we stood. #ebola #drc #health #survivor

Photo by @sofia_jaramillo5 | Wax Palm trees grow in the Cocora Valley near Salento, Colombia. The enormous trees grow up to 200 feet tall and thrive in high-altitude places. When I first explored this area, I was astonished by the beauty of these trees. They reminded me of a book from my childhood. Can you guess which one?

Spent a few days chasing icebergs around the tiny town of Twillingate. Did you know it takes 3 years for the icebergs to float over from Greenland and that the ice that makes up an iceberg is over 15,000 years old? How cool is that?!?! 💎🌊

I am in the middle of a week long road trip visiting 10 national park service sites in Oregon and Northern California. The highlight of the trip so far has been Crater Lake National Park, where I was able to spend a night in the iconic Crater Lake Lodge, with a view of lake from my room.

I was rather shocked at the amount of snow which is still on the ground. I expected some snow, but there are drifts over 15” high and most of the roads in the park are still closed due to snow.

In Lassen National Park, which I visited yesterday, there was even more snow and even more of the park was closed. I’m rather shocked to see so much show this late in May.

I’m writing this in Susanville, CA and from here I’m heading north to Portland. I’ll be visiting the following sites over the next few days:
- Lava Beds National Monument, CA
- Tule Lake National Monument, CA
- John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, OR
- Fort Vancouver National Historic Site, OR
- Lewis and Clark National Historical Park, OR

The sites I’ve visited on the trip up until now are:

- Oregon Caves National Monument, OR
- Redwood National Park, CA
- Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, CA
- Crater Lake National Park, OR
- Lassen National Park, CA

I really love going on these national park road trips. I’m almost halfway to visiting all 419 National Park Service sites in the US, and need just a few more to have visited all 61 National Parks proper.
