Why we quilt.
52 interviews. 52 weeks.
Because we have so much to learn from one another as we follow our creative paths.
Have you guys had the chance to check out @stephskardal’s new quilt design tool @quiltfill? She has a bunch of patterns up for you to play with color, including my quilts twenty-twelve and dancing squares! If you’re looking for a little mindless distraction you should head on over and check it out! But it’s kind of addicting, so don’t say i didn’t warn ya! #playwithcolors#modernquilts#creativityfound
Every time I open the PO Box, I am filled with love and gratitude for this wonderful community that we have. Another beautiful batch of blocks have arrived for the #inourownwords quilt. I have been so touched by the stories that you have shared. So many of these words have such powerful and personal stories behind them. I feel extremely privileged to hold on to them and to be able to bring them all together into one collective quilt. Please continue to send them and share the word with your guilds and other women in your life. Thank you for your contributions. Makers are tagged where possible.
Hello, friends! It’s going to finally feel like spring around these parts today and it’s Week #15 of The Creativity Project! My guest is QuiltCon Best in Show winner Steph Skardal, and you will soon learn that quilting is not her only talent. Steph is a modern-day renaissance woman. She is a mom of three girls, while also being a part-time software engineer, a photographer, and an innovator. Steph is constantly developing new ways to blend her technological background with her craft. In fact, she is debuting one of her newly developed tools in her interview today! (You’ll find it in the intro and I’m warning you: its fun and addicting!)
You won’t want to miss this one! So check it out, link is in my profile! Happy Friday!
Another beautiful group of blocks arrived over the past week! The #inourownwordsquilt is growing! But I still need your help! If you could please share, I am looking to collect as many blocks as possible by May 15th. Here are the details one more time:
If you’d like to send a block to me for this project, I am looking to collect blocks from as many women as possible with a hand-stitched word of empowerment that describes YOU as a woman. ****Details: blocks should be 3.5” x 6.5” with a word stitched in BLACK on a WHITE fabric background. Blocks can be sent to me at: Kim Soper, PO Box 214, Centerport, NY 11721 ********** P.S. — If you’re not a hand-stitcher, but would like to send me a block, please write your word in your own handwriting on a white fabric background, and I will stitch it for you.
Makers are tagged in photos above where possible. If i missed you, please let me know! Thank you to everyone that has contributed so far!
How was your week? I hope it was a good one! It’s Week #14 of the Creativity Project and you are in for a treat. My guest this week is Kirsty Cleverly of @bonjour_quilts. Kirsty is an Australian-based quilter and pattern writer. While living in France, she began blogging and sharing her quilting designs online as Bonjour Quilts. Now back in her native Australia, Kirsty is quite busy as an engineer and mother of four, but she continues to use quilting and pattern writing to express her creativity. Kirsty’s patterns are sold worldwide and have mass appeal due to their ease of construction and time-saving tips. Kirsty herself is witty, kind, clever (much like her name) and just an all-around awesome person. I hope that you will check out her interview (the link is in my profile). Have an awesome weekend, and hey, maybe spring will finally show up around these parts? We can hope! Happy Friday! #thecreativityproject2018#52weeksofcreativity#52interviewsin52weeks#lelandavestudios#modernquilting#makersmovement#creativelifehappylife#quiltersofinstagram#doitfortheprocess
