This is how it looks the amazing Mediterranean posidonia seagrass meadows. When you look inside like this photo you realize that is more than a praire, is an underwater forest where many species live. Sponges, starfish, briozoos, fishes...
I love to dive in the posidonia during autumn when they look wonderful. #formentera #mediterranean #mediterraneo #posidonia @vellmari_divingcenter #baleares

Thanks very much #loewe for the support in the protection of the posidonia meadows. The implication of @loewe_perfumes is an inspiration of how the protection of marine ecosystems is a responsibility of all of us. #agualoewexposidonia #mediterranean #mediterraneo #baleares #posidonia

🇬🇧Today we woke up reading good news. For the first time a great white was photographed alive in Spanish Mediterranean waters. This species was abundant up to the past century that intensive fishing has depleted its population. We have many reports and testimonies about the presence of the White sharks around Balearic islands and In the Western Mediterranean. Many people would be afraid of this information so it’s important to say that white shark don’t prey in human beings. They feed in the Med mainly in red tuna fish. Congratulations to @alnitakmission The photo of this post I took it in Guadalupe island. #sharks #baleares #mediterranean #diving #discover #dontcrackunderpressure

🇬🇧The largest predator of all time still exists… the sperm whales, and it hunts the second largest predator that still exists, the giant squid. I’m fascinated with the cachalotes after three days in the water with them. They also have the biggest brain ever in nature. They are not only super powerful but extremely intelligent. They are able to communicate between them using name and surname for each individual. We are looking for other superior intelligence far away from us but maybe we have it in front of us. They don’t build instruments nor need material things. Maybe because behind the superior intelligence is another kind of life more simple and more happy based in social relationships and a powerful interior life. #exploration #conservation #underwaterphotography #ocean #travel #atlantic #nature #wildlife #canon #portugal #azores #ocean #dontcrackunderpressure

🇬🇧Unforgettable dive at Princesse Alice Bank 50 miles offshore Pico island. When we were doing our decompression stop after a deep dive at 44 m, a cloud of plankton surrounded us. Suddenly we where diving between millions of tiny colonies of radiolaria floating in the water column and a group of manta rays filtering the plankton bloom came straight to us. What a magic moment doing our decompression with these giants around us! Watch the video with the manta rays touching and hand shaking us!

Very sad dive yesterday at Flores island. My friend and amazing scientist Kike Ballesteros came back from the morning dive happy to saw a large school of trigger fish. I was blown away with his photos so I decided to dive at the afternoon in the same spot. But we fund no trigger fish alive. They were all dead, the bottom full of chopped heads. The school was wipe out in a few hours between both dives @natgeopristineseas @oceanoazulfoundation @waittfoundation #oceanoazulexpedition #exploration #conservation #underwaterphotography #ocean #travel #atlantic #nature #wildlife #canon

🇬🇧Today i took this close up of a huge dusky grouper eye surrounded by fish fleas at Corvo island. It is so impressive to dive with big fishes that you don’t pay attention to small details. But this one was so curious and friendly that I saw the fleas concentrated around his eyes. This tiny copepods parasite on fishes sucking blood from them.

A beauty and smiling mako shark female yesterday afternoon 3-4 miles offshore Flores island, #azores. Is not many places in the #ocean where you can see this wonderful animal. Every year we slaughter millions of #sharks for the shark fin soup. And we are doing this during too many years. Future generations will remember us how we did massacres of sharks as we look to the past generations and horrified with what they did with seals, whales, buffalos... Is the moment to change, protect the sharks that we need to have healthy oceans. Thanks very to my friends Jorge Fontes and @pelayosalinas that make this encounter possible @natgeopristineseas @waittfoundation @oceanoazulfoundation

🇬🇧This is the pelagic nudibranch Glaucus atlanticus. A wierd wonderful sea creature with a name more of a gladiator than an animal. His life is on the surface drifting in the ocean searching for Man-o-war jellyfish (attached) because this tiny oceanic alien feeds on the ultra stinging tentacles of the Man-o-war. Nature does impossible things like “designing” such a unique life form. Thanks very much to the great @fotonunosa who spotted it. @natgeopristineseas @waittfoundation @oceanoazulfoundation #azores #atlantic #canon
