Today didn't allow for much of a practice, but I managed to squeeze in a 30 min class from @dylanwerneryoga "True Strength Evolution serie", available on @alo.moves The class I did was super hard, but definitely not impossible. Great workout! If you do have access to Alo Moves, do you have any favourite teachers/series to recommend? .

Yeyy, finally made it back on the mat 🧘‍♀️, feeling well again! ✌ Dog is also recovering from her surgery 🐶❤, what a relief!

This sequence was super fun and a little challenging. Great for improving #balance and hip mobility. Try to use the hands as little as possible (preferable no hands, except for crow of course 😅).

Tadasana ➡️ Squat ➡️ Plow pose ➡️ Crow pose ➡️ Squat ➡️ Plow pose ➡️ Crow Pose ➡️ Squat ➡️ Plow pose ➡️ standing ➡️ (R leg kick ➡️ Standing Pigeon ➡️ sit down ➡️ stand up on L left) x 3 .
Repeat on L side (second video).
Speed up x 2.

What a great start of the new year! NOT 😝
I've been feeling under the weather for 10 days now, and on top of that my fur baby 🐶 got 17 (!!!) teeth removed yesterday. 😥
She was in so much pain after the surgery! Today she's feeling much better. ❤ Are you brushing the teeth on your fur baby? I will from now on! Lesson learned, unfortunately the hard way...

15 years ago, I made the decision to cut meat out of my diet. Back then restaurants did not know anything about vegetarian/vegan food, and it happened more than once that I got served a dish minus the meat. There were no substitutes for dairy products or eggs in the stores, and tofu was something I bought froozen in a special store, and truth is that tasted like 💩! .
.
So much has happened since then. Today, I would never even consider to eat at a restaurant that fails to serve a decent vegan dish. Most supermarkets offers lots of #plantbased options. Likewise smaller grocery stores. Even the climbing gym I go to serve vegan sandwiches, vegan ice cream, plant based milk to go with the coffee etc. What I am trying to say is that it's super easy to be vegan today!! 🌱

We all know that on a population level we must cut down on the meat consumption in order to help the environment. I fully realise the older generation is unlikely to change their eating habits [it's not a surprise 20% of the females in age category 16-25 years of age are vegetarians or vegans, while corresponding figure amongst men > 50 years of age is as low as 3%], so I believe it's up to the younger generation to implement this change.

Start small. Dedicate 1 day/week to eat vegan food. Learn about the different vegan options out there, it takes time to adjust and adopt, but I promise you will get used to it! You are also doing your kids a favour if they learn to appreciate lentils, beans, chickpeas, nuts etc at a young age. .

Woke up this morning with a cold. 🤧
How typical, it happens as good as every time I get off work for a few days!! 😤 Anyone else who can relate? 😔 .
.
Anyway, as passive stretching turned out to be my one and only option for today, I spent quite some time working on my front splits. For sure I do get deeper if I start my practice with an intensive vinyasa flow to fire up the body and THEN work on my splits - but actually, these passive yin variations of splits, using props, turned out to be more efficient then I first anticipated. Fingers crossed I do feel better tomorrow though!

These 4 #stretches are pretty amazing to open up them hips. Minimum hold is 2 minutes, but preferable hold each pose for 5 minutes or more. Use blankets and pillows as #props to support your body weight, so that you can truly relax into each #posture Experiment what feels optimal for you.

(1) Frog pose 🐸 - Support inside of them knees using folded blankets. Ensure 90 degrees in them knees, and sink pelvis towards the ground. .
.
.
(2) Pigeon Pose 🕊 - Angle in front knee somewhere between 45 to 90 degrees, whatever feels good. Try to keep hips as parallel as possible. .
.
.
(3) Dragon Pose 🐉- Step one foot in front of the mat. Sink down in them hips, while making sure fron knee doesn't flare out to the side. Support your upper body by pressing palms into the ground with straight arms, or come down on the forearms.
.
. (4) Butterfly 🦋 - Soles towards each other. Let knees fall out to the side. Make sure your legs creates a diamond shape. Lean forward, head towards feet. Nice adjustments are folded blankets to support the knees, and also to place a cushion or pillow on top of the feet to support the upper body. As said before, experiment with props so you feel comfortable enought to stay in the pose for a few minutes. .
