Another AMAZING review from one of our grooms left on Wedding Wire! So amazing in fact that it would not even fit on one screen shot! Words cannot express how thankful we are to receive reviews like this! Thank you Stephen and Candis for allowing us the honor of hosting your special day!
Enjoying our first car show of 2018! Just added the Melhorn Manor license plates to the Chevy and Oldsmobile. Of course we had to add a little Melhorn Manor stand this year! Feeling very blessed and relaxed today. If you are near Mount Joy this afternoon, stop by and say hello! We are right near St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Main Street.
Dr. and Mrs. Pantalone came to party this evening! Our man @dj_sir_chris providing the entertainment!
Another beautifully decorated venue on this rainy Saturday. Congratulations Luke and Megan on your special day! Your families did an amazing job preparing for today. We are so excited to celebrate with you!
Brides and grooms who visit us are often curious where the chickens in our logo and some of the chicken themed decorations in the barn come from, well.... The Melhorns have been deep rooted in the poultry industry in Mount Joy for about 100 years. Around the 1920's, John E. Melhorn started Melhorn's Fruit and Poultry Farm. This enterprise consisted of a hatchery, where well bred White Leghorn chicks where sold to local farmers. Apples from the farm's orchards and fertilizer were also sold to the public as well.
Around the late 1950's and early 1960's John E. Melhorn's son, John W. Melhorn, started getting into the poultry industry as well, after his service in the U.S. Navy. Not long after, he saw the need in the industry to start loading and transporting the chickens for the farmers in the area. The truck pictured above is one of the original trucks that helped to start it all. It is a 1951 Chevrolet 6400 that John E. had purchased new here in Mount Joy and has stayed in the family through all of the years.
As the planning for Melhorn Manor began, the rich heritage of poultry with the family had to be blended in. If you come and visit us here and see the old wooden coops and the other old relics around, you now know some of the history behind it all!
Congratulations Josh and Kylee Brubaker on your special day! It has been such an honor and pleasure to work with you and your families during the planning process. It's absolutely stunning how you transformed our venue into yours for the day! We wish you all the best for your future together!
