Transitions. Damaged passage (top) > healthy 2nd year (bottom). 🍂 Goodbye Nova, young goddess of the sky. 🌌 May your fire for survival burn bright and your talons stay sharp and true. 🦅 Two years into falconry and so much gained, yet this is only a beginning. While a red tailed hawk is not ideal for hunting in this living vicinity, Nova will not be the last in the path of the Red tail. As for what’s next, stay tuned...ca cawwww! Peace.
“If you do not know how to die, you do not know how to live...” - Thich Naht Hanh 🥀 Morning meditation in bumper to bumper. A perfect reminder we can practice this teaching every moment...So how do I die right now Brandon? 😌 Take a deep breath. Were you stressed about something just now? The traffic? The work waiting after the traffic? WHERE ARE YOU even at right now? ☺️ Die real quick. Let it go. Nothing is happening TO you. It’s all just happening. Breathing, driving, working, managing. To an extent, you must eliminate the self to take care of the self, as many moments as you can. Be APART of everything, not separate. 🌹 Self-care can be self-death, and allow you to live more freely. Take care of yourself - your pain, your ego - before you go out into the world and attempt to take care of others. 🙏🏼
James Smith Putnam June 5, 1934 - September 21, 2018
Granpda was born into the depression. As a teen he thought he was going to war (Korea) soon after meeting Gram, not knowing if they’d see each other again, and fate kept him stationed here. He raised 4 kids with gram including my mom. 🌹 This photo stuck with me most over the weekend as I visited Gram. Grandpa designed and began making these as early of childhood as I can remember, and probably before. He’d saw each one, and paint several at a time. Often he’d wrap them individually in old, big newspaper sheets as bouquets. He was an old, hard disciplined military man, yet was extremely kind to anyone he encountered. He easily made and gave away (or sold for $1 each 😉) thousands of these tulips, or similar designs that could be added to any outdoor garden or ground display. 🌺 I’ll continue to live as a continuation of Grandpa Putnam. Not just a craftsman of physical, enjoyable, useful objects, but a craftsman in a digital age. A craftsman of content, of kindness, of flowers from my hands for myself and you as we interbe. One death and 84 years of flowers, with many more flowers to come. Thanks Grandpa, you did good. ❤️🔨
Red Nova 🔥💫 . . She’ll be ready by this weekend. Maybe we’ll put some rabbit under her... 🐇 . . Red tail complete. Still some OG damaged wing feathers to drop, but she’s plenty strong. Bringing weight down a bit today and then training 🦅 💪🏼 . . The baby dragon returns...
