First stop: @lolayabonobo! This is the world’s only #bonobo sanctuary, where they accept orphan bonobos and rehabilitate them. Their ultimate goal is to release fully functional family groups back to the wild.
The first step is to give the often terribly traumatized orphans substitute mothers, who form a bond with the bonobo babies and take care of them as their own.
The orphans never leave their human mothers; that bond gradually restores the confidence of the traumatized babies.
Overtime, they learn independence and eventually, are ready to join a family group!
Ending the biodiversity crisis is possible and the solution starts with YOU! Join the movement by reading and signing the Nature Needs Half Declaration. (Link in bio) #NatureNeedsHalf#KeepItWild#Conservation
We are nothing without wilderness. If we don’t do something soon to protect it, we will lose vital species and ecosystems that we ultimately rely on for survival. This is as much about YOUR survival as it is about the survival of the other 8.7 million species on #earth. #ThursdayThoughts#natureneedshalf
