My favorite type of savory bakes are those those with few rules and lots of options. This Savory Sausage and Vegetable Tart recipe includes ricotta, Gruyère, Italian sausage, caramelized onions, roasted red peppers and asparagus because those ingredients sounded good to me.

But, nearly every ingredient in this Savory Tart recipe can be swapped out for another.

This. Cake. My absolute favorite buttery bundt cake covered in butterscotch sauce is… what is the right word? Really freaking fantastic. (“freaking”, by the way, is not the right word.)

On the scale of total decadence and health food, these cherry almond muffins are somewhere in between.
.
They are essentially cake that I want to eat for breakfast and therefore call a muffin. But, I’ve replaced the granulated sugar with Stevia blend. This is not to say that they are sugar free.
.
The recipe includes almond paste (yum) and cherry preserves (super yum), and a generous amount of brown sugar streusel (yuuuuuuummmmmm). So, there is some sugar in there. But, a lot less than if you use granulated sugar in the batter.

You know it's going to be a great day, when you wake up to a comment like this... "I’m eating one of these right now with my coffee, and I had to tell you that I’ve been searching for years for a cinnamon roll that was as good as the ones that my mom used to wake up at 4am to start, and this is it. My search is over. Extra points because I get to skip the early wake up. Love them."

When our first born was a baby, my husband decided to put a drop of lemon juice on his finger and place it in our son’s mouth just to see his reaction. (Oh, come on. We were young and poor, and in desperate need of cheap entertainment.)
.
My husband was all geared up to laugh at a scrunched up baby face. Instead, our infant son, opened his big eyes wide and licked at his lips like it was the best thing he’d ever tasted. And just like that, the evening’s entertainment crashed and burned.
.
My husband tried this trick with both of our girls as well only to receive the same reaction. It was our first lesson in the fact that as parents, you have shockingly little control over your kids. They are born with their own little personalities, their likes and dislikes largely hardwired in there, and you can’t really do a damn thing about it. Like how much our kids were born loving lemons.

Lemon Berry Snack Cake.
I dreamt this recipe. Well, that’s not entirely true. I dreamed that I was eating this cake and woke in the morning with such an intense craving for it that I rearranged my morning’s schedule to bake it.

This Olive Oil Cake is delicious on it’s own, completely unadorned aside from its crackling sugary top. But, split in half and filled with a thick layer of lemon mascarpone cream transforms this simple, unassuming cake into something special.
