Photo by @FransLanting Two young cheetah brothers are crouching down to drink from a water hole in the Serengeti. Cheetahs may be able to survive for long periods without drinking water and rely instead on the blood from their prey, but they don’t pass up an opportunity to drink when they can. You can tell they are still young because of the ruff of fur along their necks, which disappears when they mature. “At a broken television repair shop, the grandson watches his grandfather step by step. It seems like he loves this job,” writes #YourShotPhotographer Duc Bui Viet. “This is a photo I like very much because it reminds me of the time when life is still difficult, and technology has not developed as it is now.”

“What struck me right away was the use of light in this image. Also the framing within the TV is excellent! You really set a tone with this image, I love that the grandson is looking over the grandfather’s shoulder studying as he repairs a TV. Learning the trade by just watching as it happens right in front of him. Great work with this photograph.” — @natgeoyourshot Senior Producer Matt Adams (@themattadams)

Photo by @amivitale. Giraffe keeper Lekupania and two orphaned giraffes whose lives he saved at Sarara Camp (@sararacamp) in northern Kenya. The giraffes come back to Sarara, which sits on the 850,000-acre Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy and is owned by the Samburu community, every morning to check in with Lekupania. Twigs, the oldest giraffe, was found upside down and stuck in an erosion gully and immediately rescued by the community. Both giraffes have been successfully introduced back into the wild. Current estimates are that giraffe populations across Africa have dropped 40 percent, plummeting from 140,000 in the late 1990s to around 85,000 today. To learn more about incredible conservation efforts in the area, follow and come visit Sarara Camp (@sararacamp) and nearby Reteti Elephant Sanctuary (@r.e.s.c.u.e). Saint-Petersburg Catherine Palace is definitely worth visiting if anyone comes to Russia. This amazing palace was bombed during the World War 2. Its famous Amber Room was dismantled and eventually disappeared during the war. Before it’s loss it was thought to be an “Eights Wonder of the World”. We were super lucky to have this place just for us for this photo as usually it is packed with people.
