I'm in love. 💕 With my new sweater. 😉 My new January Gansey is a seamless, bottom-up traditional shape with a cozy, dense fabric, and underarm and shoulder gussets. My pattern comes with 3 gauge options (for a range of sport and DK yarns) with lots of choices for sizing and ease (32, 34, 36, 38, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52" chest/bust) for any gender. It also comes with a KAL (which runs 12/31 - 2/18) and a free 8-week email workshop that walks you through each part of the process, step by step (including the most swoonworthy sweater armpits ever!). Workshop and KAL registration ends February 1st. When you purchase the pattern you get access to our private KAL pop-up group on Facebook to knit with us, and you get my the 8-week workshop direct to your email with videos, photo tutorials and more! My profile link will get you there. Please note: The pattern is available now as a preorder to allow knitters to get all the info they need to join the online group and sign up for the workshop/ get their yarn ready. The pattern will land in your Ravelry library as an update on Dec 31st.
I froze my noodles off for today's photo shoot. (My fingers were so cold that I couldn't button my shirt - or pants - during a costume change! For real!) But it was worth it, because a) We photographed a few things for the second book, and b) We snapped photos of my new sweater (I'll unveil it soon!) ...and this sweet little hat I whipped up in @brooklyntweed Peerie. Soon, my loves. Soon. 💓 P.S. Thanks a million to @ink.bags for being the best photo day assistant ever and for @belenisabelphotography for being my trusty photog! #fortheloveofknits
Mitten weather is a thing☃️ ...and I still love my Weatherly Mitts so much. They almost make me wish it was snowing. *Almost* 😂 I knit these in Jamieson Aran on large needles, then fulled them (which we often call felting, but in this case it's fulling). I took it a step further with a bit of wool embroidery and the result was a toasty pair of mitts that I finished in a single weekend! Practically instant gratification. ❄ Anyone else feeling "quick knit" vibes right now?
Friends, this knitting design world is sometimes chaos. I wish I could tell you that it's always glamorous and charming, but really - it's often stressful, harried and discouraging. I've thought a lot lately about why I'm here and if this is really where I belong. Should I be writing mystery novels or running a YouTube cooking channel (probably about nachos) or working in hospital finance project management again? I really do wonder sometimes. But here's the truth: Writing knitting patterns and sharing my passion for knitting with those around me is what I was born to do; it's what I've done instinctively almost my whole life, even before it was my profession. It's the thing I can't help but do. Even when I'm not sure where I belong, I know I belong with wool and needles. I have that one thing I know for sure, and it helps when I feel a bit out of my element. If you're ever at a loss wondering where you fit, please know that you belong here, too. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart. 💕
We are so lucky to have this lovely art form to knit for those we love. 💕 In the spirit of gratitude for the hands that knit, I've created a Give Thanks bundle in my Ravelry shop. 16 accessory patterns (these are just a few) - 25% off, no minimum or maximum, and no code needed. You can find access through the link in my profile. (The bundle expires 11/30) Happy gift knitting, dear ones!
Our friend Tiffany over at @twillandprint just shared her Beekeeper Cardigan and I can't get over how lovely it is! (With a color coordinated hat, too!) Isn't she just 😍😍😍? [Pop over to her grid to see all the details.]
