‘Salkantay dreaming’
.
First nights’ camp under half moon at the foot of the Vilcabamba range. In the right of the photo, there is a waterfall that feeds a magnificent alpine lake not visible from this angle. Not long after I took this exposure and called it a night, the clouds and fog rolled in until I couldn’t see more than 10 ft from the tent. The distant storm I had seen to the south had converged upon us. The decision to stay the night here was looking like a bad one but the alternative facing us, to pack up and head back down the rocky mountain in the dark with lightning around, wasn’t much better. The next few hours were hairy to say the least but eventually the storm moved on and we rode it out. I think I got about 10 minutes of sleep in total this night

Our backpacking journey through the Andean highlands we both agreed, was the most physically challenging task we’ve ever undertaken. It was vistas like this that had us waking up each day for more, ready for the next 12 hour trek ahead of us. This spot was right outside our tent with no other soul around for miles

We’ve been travelling through South America for the past few weeks. Backpacked through Ecuador, Bolivia and are currently now in Peru. About to take on the Salkantay trek, a 5 day camp/hike up to Machu Picchu. We will gain an altitude of 4,629 m or 15,187 feet. The packs are heavy but we’re keen

Some days they’re just not interested in having their portrait taken. And fair enough too @aquatech_imagingsolutions

This image I took titled ‘Pipe Dreams’ was lucky enough to be chosen in the top 34 images in this years Photocon Event in Hawaii. It’s a great event in only it’s second year.
The local TV broadcaster KHON is running a Peoples’ Choice award for most voted photograph. Click the link in my bio ☝️ and at the bottom of the page are the nominated photos. Mine is Image 24.
One lucky voter (could be you) will win a sweet Mavic Air combo. Voting closes 8/31 this Friday local time (Saturday in Oz)
I appreciate the support! Cheers 🤙
