A father shares a moment with his son during a fireworks show at the Alaska State Fair last August. #YourShotPhotographer Lindsay Saunder comments on the quality of the light: "This was taken around 11:30pm, our 'blue hour' in Alaska during the summer!"

Photo by @noralorek | Dandan, Wessam, and Ibrahim, from Daraa in Syria, met in Calais, France, at the end of 2015 and moved in together shortly thereafter. Back then there were about 3,500 refugees in a camp called Jungle and new arrivals every day. In the first few months, they tried to reach UK by climbing on trains and trucks, but in the end they managed to collect money and pay for smugglers. Even then, they failed dozens of times. Since July 2016, all three have been with their relatives in the UK. This picture was taken at their Calais shelter earlier that year. According to Help Refugees, 9,106 men, women, and unaccompanied children were living in the Calais Jungle in tents or temporary shelters they’d build themselves and decorated with blankets. They all had the same goal: to enter the UK. In October 2016 the Jungle was demolished. Now many refugees live in Calais in tents, still trying to cross the border to the UK.

To honor the black community on Instagram and celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth, we’re sharing another story in our series #ShareBlackStories. This month and beyond, follow along and share your unique perspective using the hashtag.
“Black history is part of everything that I am,” says Benny Harlem (@bennyharlem), who is an artist, musician and (most importantly) father to Jaxyn (pictured). “In my family, Black history is celebrated 365 days a year. Because of all that, my family and I continue to learn about our history, and it helps us to make better decisions and choices. It helps us not to take any of our opportunities for granted,” he says. “It’s so important to continue to #ShareBlackStories. It will continue to help tie and bond us all together — sharing our experiences helps all races to learn and grow.”
Check out today’s story to see new #ShareBlackStories templates. Screenshot, save and share on your story. ❤️

The patterns and colors of nature are amazing - the ranger who issued our permit to hike here referred to this canyon as “nature’s Sistine chapel” and I totally get it 😍
Initially formed by water erosion in the Jurassic period, it’s sandstone walls are now primarily sculpted by the wind 💨 🏜

Photo by @kevinfaingnaert // With its distinctive blue-and-white colour scheme, cobbled streets and jaw-dropping glimpses of azure waters, the cliff-top village of Sidi Bou Saïd is one of the prettiest spots in #Tunisia. Since the release of the song by French singer Patrick Bruel, the café Sidi Chabaane, changed its name to "Café des Délices", and became a famous place in Sidi Bou Saïd. The café, built on the side of the hill in the sixties, offers a beautiful point of view on the bay of Tunis and is a great place to have a coffee.⠀

We come full circle to where we began our Brazil adventure: Rio de Janeiro. .

The view is from atop Corcovado mountain, just below the 30m/98ft Art Deco statue of Cristo Redentor (“Christ the Redeemer”). We took the rack railway tram up 2200 feet, through the Tijuca Forest National Park for one of Rio’s best views. (Another is from Sugarloaf mountain, seen in the distance here.) .

Rio is the final stop of our @gadventures Wonders of Brazil Tour (full itinerary link in bio). This visit, we took a couple more days to fill up on Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, street art in Santa Teresa, a walking tour including Lapa and the downtown, more than a few visits to sushi bars, live music, nibbling and noshing on acai, gelato, selgados, and moqueca (fish stew), and a bit of caipirinha sampling. .

Sure, we know there’s more to Rio, but we ran out of time. What did we miss? Feel free to suggest…we’ll take it up on our next visit!
