The mobile studio in the park is back with "Citizens of Earth", a social sculpture, focusing on a dialogue of immigration and ancestry stories. Participants are encouraged to share their stories through the creation of a global passport with the assistance of New York City public school students who serve as diplomats. "To be a responsible citizen in a democracy, one has to be involved in a kind of civic engagement. Culture has a huge role to play in that. And museums have a huge role to play in that." Our @lauraraicovich in "A Director Is As Political As the Art" by @rpogrebin in yesterday's @nytimes. Ms. Pogrebin mentions our new fall 2017 exhibitions #NeverBuiltNY and #PattyChang's #TheWanderingLake and "#IMICorona, a community storefront space on Roosevelt Avenue that provides free educational, health, and legal services." Read the full article by clicking on the link in our bio! | The #QueensMuseum is an inviting and vital commons for art, ideas, and civic engagement in a newly expanded building located in the second largest park in New York City. For the project 17.(SEPT) [By WeistSiréPC]™, American artist Julia Weist and Cuban artist Nestor Siré explore and intervene in El Paquete Semanal or “the weekly package,” a cultural and economic phenomenon that developed in Cuba in place of internet connectivity, in which a 1 terabyte digital media collection is aggregated weekly and circulated across the country via in-person file sharing. Take part in the system: Every third Sunday of the month from 2-5pm a paquetera, or Paquete agent/guide, will be available to guide visitors through downloadable content that they can take home. #JuliaWeist #NestorSire #ElPaqueteSemanal

The #Unisphere: This massive steel structure is one of the only remaining #WorldsFair monuments and stands at 12 stories high. The three rings surrounding the globe are representative of the first @NASA satellites to orbit the earth. And what's more, it's right at our doorstep! 🌐

✨ That feeling of seeing the Panorama of the City of New York for the first time ✨ For some it was at the 1964 #WorldsFair, and for others with their families this week! When was the first time you saw the Panorama? Did you find your house? Your office? Your school?

Watch this space as more content continues. — @pemadb (Pictured is the infamous Panorama plane that takes off from #LaGuardiaAirport 🛫)

In 1985, Michael Graves’ response to Marcel Breuer’s 1966 Madison Avenue original @whitneymuseum would have tripled the gallery space of Breuer’s inverted ziggurat. See what the old Whitney (the new @MetBreur) could have looked like in this model in the "Never Built New York" exhibition, now on view. #NeverBuiltNY #NYC #Architecture #Breur Photo by Hai Zhang
