Oh!! My last solo journey! November 2014 I was wandering around Peru and Bolivia. This was my first thanksgiving away from my immediate family...I spent the day in an enjoyable gloom, listening to the rain and reading a crumpled copy of Frankenstein I had found laying around. After sunset I went down to the hotel restaurant for dinner. The room was dimly lit and all the tables stood empty accept for the one in the corner where a lanky man was eating alone. I asked if I could join him. He was a Colombian bird watcher who took people on quiet tours of the jungle. Very sweet, soft spoken with long fingers. How marvelous. To spend your time showing people birds. Moving delicately among the palm trees. What a dream.
This photo was from a trip up into the mountains on winding roads like dusty brown snakes surrounded by green velvet. I was being led by two young boys who were looking for some tucked away hot springs after just having done a vision quest ceremony. In those sulfuric waters the wound I had on the bottom of my foot from stepping on a shard of glass healed miraculously! Feeling the tug of wanderlust...where to next?
Paying tribute to @ezra26 for her big heart taking in little creatures so in need of love and a home. She took in a kitten I saved off the street over a year ago who was so jumpy and scared and she worked her magic and made her feel safe. Now this new addition to the family! You are the best.
Siting and drawing in a public space is such a pleasure. Couple to my left are very sweet with each other. They are students discussing their schedules. Calm. Affectionate. The couple to my right are sharing a bowl of penne and seem agitated. both looking on their phones and ignoring their baby who seems to be doing everything it can to get their attention.
