Life doesn’t become more peaceful by anxiously trying to achieve our lists or even our anxious attempts to be peaceful. It comes from allowing some of the world to pass you by as you refuse the current of the stream for brief moments.
I took this back in 2015. There was only one other photographer - also breathing heat into his cold hands. If you zoom up on el cap you can see little dots. They are the headlamps of those who made their bed for the hundreds and thousands of feet up the side of this wall of granite. And then this past weekend I saw @jimmy_chin’s amazing doc @freesolofilm about @alexhonnold’s passion to climb it without ropes. If you’ve ever wanted to watch the heart and thought process of one who stands alone at the top of his field where there is only perfection or death, it is an amazing and beautiful thing to take in. Surprisingly emotional as well in the best ways possible.
Teaming up with @greenmatters to talk about sustainable and ethical travel was one of the easiest decisions I’ve made this year. Check out their stories to hear me talk more about it from my recent fall colors trip. And definitely browse their page if you care about things like... I dunno... Earth.
