Through Another Lens | Photograph by Charlotte Boyle (@charlotteboylephotography)
“Emerging from decades of isolation and military rule, Myanmar is full of endless contradictions and surprises,” writes #YourShotPhotographer Charlotte Boyle. “At a traditional old teak pagoda in Inwa (Ava), a Buddhist monk agreed to sit for a portrait. As we took pictures, his three novices disappeared, only to reappear clutching a couple of smart phones to document their own interpretation.”
“Charlotte, when I originally started thinking about the idea of this assignment, I wanted people to push the boundaries of what exploration meant. For me, this photo is beautiful because it captures what it means to be exploring an ever-changing world where technology mixes with tradition. The lighting is soft, the moment is sweet, and it leaves me feeling hopeful. Great job.” — @natgeo Explorer Becca Skinner (@beccaskinner)
