📷: @mydetoxstravel "It was important for me to create images that reflected personal style and creative vision during my last trip to Peru. That involved getting at most spots at blue hour, which meant leaving at 2 a.m. and hiking up and down an extremely steep mountain pass in the dark for this particular location. Thankfully I made safely and had just enough time to capture the foreground at blue hour. Because this is a composite, the sky was shot the night before." | #SonyAlpha a7R III | 16-35mm f2.8 GM | Foreground: 23mm, f16, 1/8 sec, ISO 800 | Sky: 16mm, f3.2, 20 sec. ISO 4000 | #BeAlpha

Photographer @erubes1 shares views from an epic opportunity for a heli ride over Rio De Janeiro 🙌 "An afternoon flight over one of the world's most famous landmarks, Christ the Redeemer. The energy in Rio de Janeiro is electric, and few cities have such a variety of landscapes in such close proximity. Normally you have to pick between beaches or mountains, but Rio is blessed with the perfect blend of both. Quick shutter speeds are always essential on the go in helicopters. It's better to have a slightly grainy but sharp image than a blurry shot." | #SonyAlpha a7R III | 24-70mm f2.8 | 25mm | f5 | 1/800 | ISO 640 | #BeAlpha #AlphaCollective

A true Southern California sunset view captured by surf photographer and #AlphaCollective member @stanmoniz with the #SonyAlpha a7R IV 👉 "Having the 61 megapixels of the a7R IV allows you to crop in and straighten out a not so perfect horizon due to sometimes being jolted by the power of the surf. This leaves you still with a powerful and healthy file to work with, especially for print." | a7R IV | 20mm | f5.6 | 1/1000th | ISO 800 | #BeAlpha

Photographer (and the newest addition to the #AlphaCollective program 👏) @autpops shares a few selects from various recent shoots. Here Autumn shares a little background on her journey as a photographer 👉 "I was first drawn to photography by the sheer power of emotion that a single frame can express. I’ve wandered through genres over the years—from fine art to weddings to products to landscapes, and it took some time to find my niche. Through that process, I discovered that my photography became a reflection of who I am: colorful, balanced, and always in search of tranquility. I’ve learned to use these tools to convey the emotion that first drew me to photography, and am absolutely ecstatic and humbled to join the Sony Alpha Imaging Collective team!" #SonyAlpha #BeAlpha

Tips for capturing early morning reflections from photographer @daniel_koehalmi👉 "Catching a certain mood of a place is always a matter of preparation, discipline, getting up early and of course a pinch of luck. Plansee in Tyrol, Austria is a place that has so much to offer, especially photography-wise. To immortalize such a reflection one needs to wait in the dawn for the first light to appear, and also you need to be quick to do it before the first winds are coming." | #SonyAlpha a7 III | 24-70mm GM | 24mm | f2.8 | 1/400 sec | ISO 100 | #BeAlpha

I had recently purchased the Sony 70-200mm f/2.8 GM lens at the time and was excited to put it to use! There are always a ton of people at this pier so I had to wait patiently for the perfect time to take my shot. I wanted to create a nice depth of field with the famous benches, so opening up the lens to it's maximum aperture was the way to go." | #SonyAlpha a7R III | 70-200mm f/2.8 GM | f2.8 | 1/50 sec | ISO 80 | #BeAlpha

Streets of Rome captured by photographer @davideor94 👉 "One of my favorite times of the day to shoot is during the blue hour. 📷: @philngyn “During our trip to Thailand, we visited the Chang Thai Heritage, a project started in 2015 dedicated to freeing elephants from abusive work and improper care. It was founded and ran by locals who have a innate love for the gentle giants and supply them with the safety and proper habitat to ensure, not only their survival, but also their well being. Because these elephants have been domesticated and abused, releasing them in the wild have yielded little success. These guys essentially bring them home and do everything they can to make sure these majestic creatures get to live out the rest of their lives without harm. So inspiring hearing stories like this and knowing that the welfare of these animals is finally starting to take priority over tourism and riding. To capture this scene, I went wide with the #SonyAlpha 16-35 f4. It’s always been one of my favorite lenses due to its extreme portability and versatile focal length.” #AICdoesThailand #BeAlpha

If you’ve visited Thailand before then you are likely very familiar with how the local monks are an integral part of the culture itself. Photographer and #AlphaCollective member @worldpins shares these selects taken at two separate temples in Chiang Mai using the #SonyAlpha a7R IV 👏👏To see more images shared so far from our trip, check out #AICdoesThailand

“Northern Thailand has been an amazing place to experience Thai culture and capture the beauty of the surrounding area. In the first image, we traveled to the Wat Phra Singh temple in Chiang Mai to explore the amazing architecture of the Golden Temple. While there, one of the Buddhist monks walked through a forested trail and I composed the image using the leading lines of the trail and color contrast of the orange robe against the green foliage. In the second image, we watched the Loy Krathong ceremony at the Wat Pantao Night Garden Temple. During the ceremony, a Buddhist monk sat peacefully along the water’s edge as other monks lit candles around him. The wide f/1.8 aperture of the Sony 135 G Master lens made for an amazing bokeh of fire around the monk and helped to draw focus to the subject.” #BeAlpha

On our second day here in Thailand, we had the opportunity to experience the annual Yi Peng Lantern Festival, which was one of the most rejuvenating and magical events to photograph. #AlphaCollective member @matt.ferr shares a few of his selects from the night ✨✨”It’s been an incredibly enriching few days in Thailand. Chiang Mai is currently celebrating their annual Yi Peng Festival and we’ve been immersing ourselves into the culture. It’s believed that releasing these lanterns during the second lunar month symbolizes a letting go of the past year’s misfortunes. It was breathtaking to experience this spectacle of lights and shared belief.” | Shot on the #SonyAlpha a7R + 24mm GM and 85mm GM set-ups | #AICdoesThailand #BeAlpha

There was no better way to kick off our #AICdoesThailand trip than a visit to one of Chiang Mai’s most beloved and active temples, the Wat Phra Singh. #AlphaCollective member @philngyn shares some background 👉 “Our first day in Thailand started off with visiting one of the most revered temples in Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Singh, which translates to the Temple of the Lion Buddha. Outfitted in gold and copper, the temple is just as lavish on the outside as it is on the inside with its ornate interior decor. Trying to emphasize the gold exterior in my composition, I used the Sony 24mm f1.4 GM lens to capture a wider frame of view and shot up from below to contrast the stunning gold color against the blue sky. I can’t wait for more to come in the next few days with more incredible sights to see and so much more culture to experience.” | #SonyAlpha a7 III | 24mm f1.4 | f10 | 1/6400 | ISO 100 | #BeAlpha

📷: @patagoniatothenorthpole "Patagonia has become my favorite playground, especially in the fall, where this 24 km hike leads you through dense lenga forests to the iconic vertical granite towers of Cerro Torre. I tend to use natural foreground in a lot of my shots simply to create mystique. My advice for making the most of your Patagonia adventures - take advantage of serendipitous encounters: meet fellow adventurers, make connections on IG, hike with some strangers. You’ll walk away with stories to tell, future adventure buddies, some of your closest friends, and a much richer travel experience than just photos." | #SonyAlpha a7 III | 85mm F1.8 | f/2.5 | 1/4000 sec | ISO 100 | #BeAlpha

Oregon's Multnomah Falls captured by photographer @zeekyan using the a7 III, a tripod, and the bracketing technique 👉 "In order to capture this photo I used a tripod to bracket three shots then merged and masked them into one image later in post. The first shot was taken with a fast shutter capturing the bright parts of the image. With the second shot I metered the exposure in the middle to balance the amount of highlights and shadows the image captured. As for the last shot, I set a long exposure to smoothen out the texture of the water and capture the detail in the shadows." | #SonyAlpha a7 III | 16-35mm F2.8 | #BeAlpha

Some photography insight from (insanely talented) photographer @mydetoxtravel who shares this view of ice caves in Iceland captured with the #SonyAlpha a7R III 👉 "I am fascinated by the limit that separates fiction and reality. I like to isolate elements of nature and assemble them to create a new experience and give another perspective on how a place could be. My creative process is based on how I felt about the environment, not necessarily to document it as it was. When it comes to compositing, don't hesitate to push your creativity and inject your emotions in your editing." #BeAlpha #AlphaCollective
