Yesterday I had a time trial for the glacier climbing course I’m in. To pass I had to make it up to Camp Muir in under 5 hours. My personal goal was 4 hours, and I honestly wasn’t sure that was possible for me. That being said, I wasn’t about to fail myself without trying. Once the lead instructor gave us the okay to split up, I gave it everything I had and finished at 3 hours and 52 minutes, passing my time trial and crushing my personal goal. If I’ve learned anything through this course it’s that I can do almost anything in life if I’m willing to work hard enough at it. I spent most of my life plagued by the words “I can’t” and never bothered to try because I always expected to fail. Over the last few years, I decided it was time to banish those words from my vocabulary and start believing in myself. There is no longer “I can’t,” just “I can’t YET.” After all, good things don’t come to those who wait, good things come to those that work their asses off and never give up #osat #mtrainiernp#mountraniernps#mtrainiernationalpark#campmuir
Breaking news: I wore a dress the other day. Worst six hours of my life (okay, okay, it wasn’t that bad). I’m sure you’re all very surprised to learn that the dress I wore was purchased at REI.
Today is Mother’s Day, so of course I had to give Mother #nature some love, too!! And happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mamas out there. I don’t post photos of my kiddo on this account because it’s public, but I will say that of all the things I do, being a mommy will always be my favorite! #treehugger
Lately I’ve been missing my quiet time in nature. The mountaineering course I’m in brings me to a lot of beautiful places, but always in large groups of people. I struggle with this sometimes. #hiking and #backpacking aren’t big social events for me. I’m not drawn to the mountains for crowds, but for the lack there of. I go deep into #nature to achieve a spiritual experience, and to get more connected with myself and my higher power. This next month will be busy, but I’m hoping to get some stillness and #serenity in my life here soon. #summer is quickly approaching, and I am looking forward to #camping trips in beautiful places where I can find that #peace again.
