It's been a few days and I'm still thinking about these passages in scripture that I heard, one day after the other.
1. The first person seems so impatient and uncharitable.
2. The second person seems to be in the pit of despair - a state that carries negative connotations for the Christian who is commonly perceived to always be joyful (if they are 'good' Christians). The first person was Christ. The second was the prophet, Elijah.
It always makes me laugh when people describe Christianity as 'fantasy', 'airy fairy' or as a kind of escapism. Because it clearly isn't. It's a challenge.
It's a challenge to be offended by someone and not reach over and punch them in the mouth. It's a challenge to be betrayed and not look at that person with hatred in your heart. It's a challenge to be joyful when nothing is going right. Even Christ's patience was tested.
So yeah. I just laugh. Christianity is not airy fairy, you guys. If I were going to escape into something, it wouldn't be something this difficult. It's a DOGFIGHT. Thankfully, we're not in it alone.
If you feel like you ARE alone (whether you're Christian or not), send me a message. Let's talk.
