Huawei has showcased its next generation of fast charging technology which can charge a smartphone's battery from 0% to 48% in just 5 minutes. A video posted on Huawei's official YouTube channel demonstrates the Chinese firm's charging technology in action, which requires an external charging pod to juice up the depleted battery.

Developed at the Huawei Watt Lab, the new charging technology has been brought to life by altering the molecular structure of the material used to make the battery's anode. Rumors suggest that Huawei will showcase its landmark invention at MWC 2018, however, nothing has been officially confirmed from Huawei's end.

The Labo line is two things: a lot of new games, and a lot of cardboard toys. You build the toy, attach the controllers and console, and use it as a new accessory. Think of the steering wheel you bought for the Wii's Mario Kart game, or the gun you used to use to play Duck Hunt. This is that and then some, all made of cardboard.

You typically need at least some programming to train a machine learning system, which rules it out for companies that can't justify a data scientist for the task. Google may have a solution: it just unveiled an alpha release of Cloud AutoML Vision, its first in a set of tools that trains AI without requiring code. This first service trains image recognition systems using a drag-and-drop interface -- you just have to load photos, tag them and start the training process.
Not surprisingly, this costs money: you have to apply for access, and you'll be charged fees for both training the models and accessing them. You won't be using this to indulge in a hobby. However, this promises to make AI, and image recognition in particular, much more accessible. While there are already custom AI options (Microsoft can fine-tune its trained AI models for you), Google's approach is simple and hands-on enough that your favorite website or device maker could roll AI into their products with relatively little effort.

World's biggest gaming company, Tencent is helping PUBG developer Bluehole and Chinese police to evict cheaters from the platform. It has helped get 120 individuals arrested so far who were engaged in developing counterfeit and modified copies of PUBG. Moreover, the developer has already banned more than 1.5 million cheaters from the platform.

Tencent is developing a mobile version of PUBG and is pushing hard to clean the Chinese gaming realm which is reputed to be the largest market for counterfeit games. Available for as low as $15, these add-ons or modified versions render abilities to players, making them "mysteriously indestructible". .

Apple's macOS is under the threat of a new "undetectable" malware called "OSX/MaMI" which changes DNS of the host computers to de-route internet traffic via insecure servers. It was discovered by security researcher and ex-NSA hacker, Patrick Wardle.

After changing the DNS information and installing a new root certificate, the malware can allow hackers to take over the internet traffic, thereby injecting ads, stealing passwords, and inserting cryptomining scripts in browsers. It is also capable of taking screenshots, simulating mouse actions, persisting as a launch application, and downloading and uploading other malicious files.

You can check the status of your macOS machine, by watching out for82.163.143.135 and 82.163.142.137 in the DNS menu under System Preferences > Network.

The Nissan Xmotion may look like an SUV on the surface, but to take a step inside is to enter a dense forest of technology. The concept car, revealed today at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, has a total of seven digital touchscreens inside, making it one of the more aggressive attempts by an automaker in recent memory to sweep aside the manual controls of the past and fully embrace a pixelated future.
Fingerprint authentication is used to start the operation of the Xmotion concept. When the driver touches the fingerprint authentication area on the top of the console, the opening sequence starts, awakening the virtual personal assistant – which takes the shape of a Japanese koi fish.

Of the 40 electrified vehicles Ford plans for its global lineup by 2022, 16 will be fully electric and the rest will be plug-in hybrids, executives said. “We’re all in on this and we’re taking our mainstream vehicles, our most iconic vehicles, and we’re electrifying them,” Ford told reporters. “If we want to be successful with electrification, we have to do it with vehicles that are already popular.” General Motors, Toyota, and Volkswagen have already outlined aggressive plans to expand their electric vehicle offerings and target consumers who want luxury, performance and an SUV body style – or all three attributes in the same vehicle.

Researchers from RMIT University, Australia have created an ingestible pill that can track its way through the human GI tract and report the presence (and concentration) of various gases throughout its 'journey'. The researchers have conducted human trials on six healthy humans, observing the effects of high-fiber and low-fiber diet on their bodies, and have published their findings in 'Nature Electronics'. They hope that the pill can help researchers learn more about the human digestive system and the way it responds to different kinds of food.

Billioniare Warren Buffett is still using a flip phone. In a recent interview with CNBC, Warren Buffett mentioned that he's happy with his flip phone and doesn't intend on switching to a smartphone anytime soon.

Buffett's company Berkshire Hathaway is one of the top five investors in Apple, and yet when Tim Cook personally asked Mr. Buffett to start using an iPhone, he was turned down.

Mr. Buffett is not alone, 510 million flip phones were shipped in 2016, and a lot of people prefer the simplicity they offer. Even celebrities, like Chris Pine, use flip phones.

Apart from the simplicity, flip phones are also more affordable than smartphones, coming in under $100 at any store, whereas flagship smartphones these days cost upwards of $700.

Google has joined hands with Twitter and ETH, Zurich to sponsor the 'Workshop and Challenge on Learned Image Compression' (CLIC) contest at the upcoming Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition (CVPR, 2018) conference set to be held in June this year.

The challenge is being organized to bring out the experts in the field 0f image compression and machine learning to employ neural networks and find new ways to improve upon the existing image compression technology.

Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, briefly explained about the need for such a challenge in a tweet which read,"Images are still too big and slow to load on phones, so we’re hosting a competition to see how much smaller and faster you can make them. Are you the next Pied Piper?” . .

A new ARKit app, called Instasaber uses augmented reality to turn a normal piece of paper into a lightsaber.

The app uses a rolled up paper as the tracking point and adds a lightsaber to one of its ends, making it look as if the paper is actually the hilt of the saber. It looks great.

By default, the app only supports a green lightsaber, but you can unlock other colors by making an in-app purchase. The app itself is free to download and try, so if you have an iPhone in your house, go ahead and try it out right now. It's fun... for a while, at least.
