#repost @thesanjeevbhatia - Over the last 12 years I’ve worked with hundreds of therapists across 🇨🇦 and now into the United States, England, and Australia. In Canada, the unemployment rate of the profession (those seeking employment as a physiotherapist) is 0.3%. There are NO therapists sitting on the couch waiting for the 📞 to ring!

What does this mean for your practice, clinical team, and ability to meet patient demand for service?
.
Have you bullet-proofed your clinic against,
.
- Therapist leaves abruptly.
- Vacations.
- Maternity/Paternity leaves.
- Personal leaves of absence.
- Termination
.
Well, it means…ALWAYS BE BUILDING YOUR BENCH.
.
The large clinic networks have full time recruiters on staff combing through social media, LinkedIn, and contacting therapists 24/7. They start by asking therapists what they don’t like about their current clinic, compensation, then dangle career advancement in front of them.
.
Other clinics are turning to social media and building their brand to attract therapist talent – as they should be! Large networks can’t do this…well, they aren’t doing it well and probably never will. It’s not part of their strategy.
.
I’ll be speaking more about healthcare consolidation and looking behind the curtain…TRUST ME...I’ve lived it.
.
Back to recruitment. In reality, because of the contractor nature of the industry there are many therapists out there that,
.
- May be looking for a change, in a rut or overworked.
- Have no clear career path at their current workplace.
- Are looking for a leadership role.
- Want to become a specialist (e.g. Pelvic Health)
- Are working in a clinic with poor culture.
- Are looking for a change in lifestyle.
- Want to make the jump to ownership.
- Want to be swayed to work somewhere else
.
This is an excellent opportunity to find the right therapist that aligns with your clinic culture, treatment philosophy, and leadership needs
