Just found this verrry old super8 footage from when I was just a and it was my first time hopping trains. Featuring Kate, Ellie and me on our inaugural girls trip thru Canada and the upper US, although sadly not included is that clip from when we were kicked off the train in our bikinis, that time the RCMP threatened to deport us, or that one night we spent at the bar in Montana and the local train conductor proposed marriage...aah, memories!! Shot mainly by @sadie_serendipity on my first camera, this terrible little plastic thing I got at a yard sale, and transferred by me back when I was volunteering at @nwfilmforum and editing super8 film was still a thing people did.
Homemade mooncake Probably the ugliest thing I've ever baked but at least they taste bomb... Ube with pandan-infused coconut milk and black sesame flavor, both with salted duck yolk centers. I blame my Sephora makeup brush which admittedly is not the best tool to use when applying egg wash. Happy Mid-Autumn Moon Festival!
It's mooncake season! Represented here are lotus seed, black sesame, and pandan, all with salted yolk fillings. It took lots of legwork but I managed to find a few from my family's hometown in Malaysia. Mom is going to be stoked #midautumnfestival # # # #chinatownnyc
Doesn't look like much but this is my favorite shop in Chinatown! All they sell is beautiful knobs and drawer pulls. Stepping inside feels like traveling backward in a time machine. The first time I went in the Chinese lady who runs it cackled at me and was scary. Now when I go inside she giggles and asks me to help her translate Cantonese shopkeeper phrases into English for her western customers. I guess I've made it?
