Værøy, Norway | Photograph by Isabelle Bacher
“[This is the] view of the southern part of the impressive island of Værøy,” writes #YourShotPhotographer Isabelle Bacher. “Værøy is an island and municipality in Nordland County, Northern Norway. It is part of the traditional district of Lofoten.”

“This is a thrilling image with a sense of place and depth that draws you in. Beautifully composed and deeply alluring. Well done.” — @natgeotravel Editor in Chief George Stone (@georgewstone)

The Kayak is one of my favorite modes of transportation because it never seems to be about hurrying from place to place. The Kayak actually originated in Greenland and was used by hunters who trained on them from an early age. The very word ‘kayak’ comes from the Inuit language - Qajaq. To be in this environment traveling in a way they have for many years gave me an extra added connection to the landscape that you cannot get from traveling by boat or foot.

Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPtwinning
Ever looked up to realize you’re coincidentally wearing the same outfit as your BFF or co-worker? This weekend, the goal is to capture moments of shared likeness that make you smile.
Create your own. This assignment is not just for people who look alike. Show us a close-up of matching nail art or the details of a collaborative art project.
Observe the natural world. Plants and insects are incredible mimics. Photographing them in their surroundings can bring an added layer of surprise.
Be open. Twinning isn’t all about obvious sets; objects and architecture can resemble people and animals. For example, your neighbor’s bush may perfectly mirror your poodle’s haircut.
Make sure you’re ready. Moments of twinning may be fleeting. As they say, pics or it didn’t happen!
PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPtwinning hashtag only to photos and videos taken over this weekend and only submit your own visuals to the project. If you include music in your video submissions, please only use music to which you own the rights. Any tagged photo or video taken over the weekend is eligible to be featured next week.
