Photo by @CristinaMittermeier // Too much of a good thing or a complicated dance between humans and sharks? In search of answers, I traveled on a @Sea_Legacy expedition to my native country of Mexico, where off the paradisiac island of Isla Mujeres, hundreds of whale sharks congregate every summer to feed on plankton and fish spawn. Not surprisingly, they attract hordes of tourists that marvel at the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to swim among these gentle giants. As I spoke to old fishermen, tourism operators, citizens of the island and scientists, I found many unexpected answers. #FollowMe at @CristinaMittermeier as I try to untangle the complex relationship of wildlife-based conservation and tourism. Golden Pavillion | Photograph by Mubarak Abdulrazzaq (@baro0k)
The sun lights up the gold leaf that adorns Kinkaku-ji, a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan. While the site dates back to the 14th century, the current pavilion was built in the 1950s after the original burned down.

Photo @stephen_matera // Aerial view of the Juneau Ice field in summer. It's hard to comprehend how much ice lies below. The Juneau Ice field, just north of Juneau, is the fifth largest ice field in the western hemisphere at an astounding 3,900 square kilometers.
Weekend Hashtag Project: #WHPflowerpower
The goal this weekend is to take photos and videos inspired by the beauty of flowers, as in this featured photo from Amy Nelson (@amyflyingakite). Here are some tips to get you started:
Take portraits. 🌸 Try hiding a friend’s face with a large flower and have them peek out from behind the petals, or weave blossoms into your own hair for a self-portrait.
Create a still life.🌻 Play with perspective to make a bloom as big as a tree, or arrange flowers around some of your favorite objects at home.
Get outside. 🌹 Run through a field of wildflowers or show off a freshly assembled bouquet in a busy city. Look for ways flowers bring bursts of color to your everyday environment or an unexpected setting.
PROJECT RULES: Please add the #WHPflowerpower hashtag only to photos and videos shared over this weekend and only submit your own visuals to the project. If you include music in your video submissions, please only use music to which you own the rights. Any tagged photo or video shared over the weekend is eligible to be featured next week.

#followmeto the Karnak Temple with @natalyosmann. After arriving to Luxor at around 4 a.m we got the confirmation that we can come to the temple in the early morning for sunrise, so we only slept for an hour, but it was totally worth it. It is such a magical place and with just us being there it was an amazing experience as we could also have time to ourselves and feel this place. Watch our video from Egypt!! LINK IN BIO!
What would you like us to share about our trip to Egypt?
