Each taster described their impressions of every champagne from Montagne de Reims in their own way. Many pleasures were found as we searched for words -none of which were encompassing enough to capture such moving wines but still we tried as one should as we savored the taste of each parcel atop this gifted Falaise de Champagne. That said...no matter your feelings on scores, points, ranking and price points, three were finished before the others and this is telling -as one might rightly assume this reveals the crowd’s favorites... The powerful Pehu Simonet Face Nord combining the organic Pinot Noir and Chardonnay of their Grand Cru holdings in Verzy and Verzenay was the first to finish... From two sustainably farmed parcels of Rilly la Montagne, Vilmart’s elegant Grand Cellier showcasing Chardonnay with Pinot Noir in a supporting role followed... The third to go long before the rest was Jean Lallement’s 80/20 Pinot Noir/Chardonnay blend -embottling the penetrating verve of his gifted piece of Verzenay... #winecodrinks #winecochampagne #growerchampagne #winecomn #wespitsoyoudonthaveto #since1985
PSA: when it is this hot we resort to White Port & Tonics and Warre’s makes just the White Port for these... #Repost@winefolly with @get_repost ・・・ The last days of summer are approaching! Check out our story to take advantage of the last long days with some of our favorite summer cocktails: 🌞
Nothing prepares one to know a parcel and vintage variation like repetitive tasting. Thanks to the Fall and Spring Release tastings we know exactly what each year inspires from each plot. Best of all: these releases are tasting delicious and true to form! / / / Big shout out to the wondrous talents at @ridgevineyards and a wholehearted thanks for the biannual #ridgevirtual tastings you host so well! To taste is to know and to hear your impressions and insights is priceless. Another big shout out to Nordy for unearthing some of his cellared Ridge to share on this occasion as only he does -Cheerio!
Our goal as importers is the joy people experience from the wine we bring in and yet our time is typically spent behind the scenes. This is why we LOVE Facebook and Instagram so much: we occasionally catch a glimpse when you pour the wines from @winecomn! Tag us whenever you know it is one of ours -we’d love to see the pleasure these bring!
The remarkable team at Coöperative Wine Services does it all, everyday, all day... first of all, not only do they pick the right vintages, they know their Ürziger Würzgarten Spätlese from the Erdener Treppchen Spätlese -from the same producer even though the labels are almost identical. They load up and are on the road early and long from Southern Minnesota to Brainerd, to Duluth and farther up the North Shore, all throughout the Metro from tidy operations to the most labyrinthine deliveries. These guys are pros and wonderful to boot. Next time you see a driver be sure to say “hello” and “how do you do?” They are wonderful people. #wedrivesoyoudonthaveto #winecomn #cwstotherescue #wondrousthingsofwonderfulpeople
New from our old friends at Tommasi: Paternoster’s Synthesi -a 100% Aglianico showing an intense and ethereal bouquet from growing between 1,500 to 2,000 feet above sea level among the volcanic slopes of Vulture of Italy’s Basilicata -in the arch of the Italian boot. Treaded and destemmed then macerated among the broken grape skins, this deep, velvety red then ages in a mix of 80% in large Slavonian oak barrels and 20% in French oak barriques to appetizing results. A wine unto itself and well worth planning a meal around. / / / #aglianicodelvulture #paternoster #tommasi #winecomn #wespitsoyoudonthaveto #since1985

So if you fancy wine, sake, and spirits (coming soon!) and want to learn more in good company, be in touch! In the meantime: à la tienne! We raise a glass your way...thank you for engaging with us here and about town!
Raising A New Glass Your Way! This fall The Wine Company will begin to curate a spirits portfolio. It is our intention to start slowly and grow slowly with the same deliberation to this portfolio as we have used to assemble our wine portfolio. We embark with great humility; we have a lot to learn. To spearhead this adventure and, frankly, make it more fun we’ve hire Dana Bonelli as Spirits Portfolio Director and Taylor Stein as Spirits Manager.
Ooo... now Cleto Chiarli Vecchia Modena comes in half bottles?! Are these travel sized? Pocket sized? Just right for the movies? To stock by the case to sip on the stoop? To enjoy unto yourself? To give freely to those you care about? To log as stocking stuffers for when that need rolls around? Can we hang our stockings all year long? Please!
