And as in uffish thought, he stood, the Jabberwock, with eyes of flame, came wiffling through the tulgey wood, and burbled as it came... ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ The uhaul is packed, the crate is in the boyfriends truck, and Zero's food and equipment are on board.
Sometime later this evening, Ryan and Zero will be heading out. He'll get everything in storage that can go in storage, he'll set up what needs to be set up where we'll be staying, and he'll start his new job in Ohio on Monday. Zero will be away from me for 3 weeks.
My heart hurts at the thought, but I'm going to try and spend that time focusing on Akira, as well as making sure the final pieces of the packing puzzle are taken care of and the house is scrubbed from top to bottom.
I'm only brave when I have to be. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ It's finally been warm and dry enough for us to get out and enjoy some time in the woods!
Forgive us over the next few months if we're slow. I know I've said it already, but we ARE in the process of moving somewhere around 850 miles from central Alabama to North Eastern Ohio. My boyfriend will be moving with a bulk of our stuff in the next week, and Zero will be going up with him first, while Akira, Honeydew, myself and the snakes will follow the final week of February.
Because of that, you'll notice that there will be an influx of photos of Akira, and I hope you'll all tolerate that while we move onto our next life chapter. From there, it'll be house hunting and actually buying our own place 😬 talk about daunting!
It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all, in which case you have failed by default. - J. K. Rowling ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ January is #nationaltrainyourdogmonth, and while I've been busy with packing and figuring out the logistics of a second major move, I still take time every night (and morning, for the puppy) to work on something with both dogs.
Tonight was a number of things with Akira, my temporary puppy for the next year or so, but this is what a typical shaping session looks like. Lots of lost fingers, screaming, and trying desperately to figure out what I want. It involves moving her back legs, but she hasn't quite figured that out yet.
There was some generalization work with a touch pad that is lower to the ground that she's had great success with generalizing from the feed tin, some engagement work, making good choices (the cat, at one point, jumps off her tower and while she looks at her, she ultimately decides I'm more rewarding), and some heel work tonight. Overall, she's a smart little girl who shapes like a beast and would work until she dropped, if I let her 😂
The best way to pay for a lovely moment is to enjoy it. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Is #wanderingwednesday a thing? It should be.
I want to give a shout out to @three_stooge_dogs for being an awesome Instagram Secret Santa and sending us an xdog vest. It's something I've been quietly pining over, especially because I can't find a fit dog vest in her size anymore, and I'm extremely excited to have one!
There is always something to be thankful for. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Forgive me for not posting anything yesterday, but Zero, boyfriend and I traveled 6.5 hours to visit my grandfather and parents in South Carolina for the holiday. I haven't seen them in about 2 years (not since my grandmother passed away) and it was definitely an emotional day. . That being said, I am extremely thankful for the fact that we went. I'm thankful for a lot of things, actually. Not least of all my family and friends, but all of you as well, whether you follow or happen to find my photos through explore or hash tags. I'm thankful for this platform, that allows us to connect with people from all around the world, and for pushing us to do things we otherwise maybe wouldn't do. . I'm thankful for the opportunities I have been presented with, as well. We're working on a secret project for @rawedgerinses (shh, we're taking photos for it today 🤫), we've been allowed to partner and work with some awesome companies, and recently, we were included in a group of accounts challenged to try out the new @ruff_bar product, RUFF BITE. It inspired a trip to Panama when I've never driven that far south before, a trip with friends when I was at one of my lowest points and really needed that togetherness and joy. . (cont. in comments)
There is no try - only do. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Zero has very few friends in life. Truthfully, she can be somewhat selective. She is impeccably well managed, most days, but her insecurity and confidence issues mean she struggles to really warm up to another dog. She usually will not pick fights, but she can come across as controlling. . But the friends she does have, she adores. 😍 . Elliot is one of those dogs. She's easy going and eager to please, patient, and most of all, extremely tolerant. All of these qualities make her the ideal candidate for friendship, because she won't take Zero's bodyslamming and vocalizing (her forms of play, unfortunately) as an affront. Usually, she quietly takes the abuse, then proceeds to engage in chase play. If Zero catches up to her, she bowls over and starts again once Z has darted off. . These two are redneck bred, born and raised, and they're perfect for each other damnit. . (P.S. - they're both sitting ever so nicely for #ruffbarnewproduct. I wonder what it could be 🤔) ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 🌟 DISCOUNTS 🌟 ZERO10 @impactdogcrates ZERO15 @thesilverhoundco ZERO15 @wildnorthdogtags ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ 🐾 Check out our pack! 🐾 @floof.boof@dakonicgsds@email@example.com@e11iot.jane@gsdunited ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ #impactpups#pupnana5#pupnovember2
Let go of the past and don't wait for the future - live now, in this moment. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ There have been a few accounts, lately, that have been talking about what Instagram should be, versus what we've let it become - for ourselves, and for others.
They've all used different words and different examples, but in the end, their message has been the same - and they're right.
When I started this account, I started it to catalog the photos I was taking of my dog. Partially, it was a way for me to share them with friends and family who couldn't otherwise see them, and partially, it was for me. For me to have, ten years down the line, when her face is grey, and her eyes are failing, and her paws are tired, to remember everything that's led up to that moment. To laugh, and cry, when she's moved on, about how much of a GOOD dog she was, and how she shaped me as a handler, and did everything for me.
I didn't start it for likes. I didn't start it for followers. While I appreciate each and everyone one of you who's decided to throw your lot in with us and watch us as we grow, both as a handler dog team and as a photographer and subject, my primary focus is and always will be my memories with my dog.
Is this photo taken on an iPhone? Yes.
And I love it just as much, if not more, than some of the photos I've taken with my Canon.
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Fall has only just begun to dust across the trees of Alabama but... That doesn't mean we can't fake it ;P
Hey, @onlynaturalpet! First and foremost congratulations on opening a new store in Denver! It's been great to watch you guys grow back from when Petsmart first started carrying your products (though my store only ever has flea & tick and supplement products) to today, and I can only imagine how proud you must be.
And you should be! Zero LOVES K9 PowerFood, and she's loved every treat and canned food I've throw at her with your label on it. Truth be told, I have a picky dog when it comes to dry food. If she's not interested, she'll turn her nose up at it for days unless we supplement with something else, but I can feed her K9PF dry as dirt and she wolfs it down like she's never seen food before.
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I can't be the only one needing a little #motivation this #monday - I've gotten very little sleep this weekend and I'm just so tired!
So, with that in mind, remind yourself that you're human today.
You don't have to get everything done. You don't have to be the absolute best. Sometimes, it's okay to come in second, and it's definitely okay to come in last. We all have bad days. We all make mistakes. The key is to remember that everything passes, everything changes, and tomorrow is always a new day.
And all at once, summer collapsed into fall. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Another photo from Ohio that I'm rather fond of ❤️ It looks like fall might actually be heading our way next week! The temperatures are looking like they'll cool off significantly from where they've been.
I hope all of my Florida friends are safe with Michael coming to shore today. Please stay safe as we go forward - my thoughts are with you and your families.
This is my entry for the #ruffbarfallambassadorsearch - we would LOVE to be part of your team! While we don't do a lot of hiking in the summer (have you seen Alabama between May and October? It's an oven!), we definitely get out very often in the fall, spring and winter, and our hikes are anywhere from 3-5 miles depending on the day and where we go.
We also participate in a lot of sporting events and activities! This November, we'll be back in Perry, GA for another cluster and hopefully earning our RATO, a RN and a CA. Between that and being an active demo dog for me at work, Zero needs a lot of extra calories throughout the day to keep up that gorgeous physique - Ruff Bars would help us so much with that!
We are back from Ohio and I'm hopefully going to get back into a routine of taking photos a few times a week now that it's starting to (slowly) cool off, but man, let me tell you, going from a balmy 65 degrees back to a humid 85 is a system shock 😖
