Let go of the past and don't wait for the future - live now, in this moment. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ There have been a few accounts, lately, that have been talking about what Instagram should be, versus what we've let it become - for ourselves, and for others.
They've all used different words and different examples, but in the end, their message has been the same - and they're right.
When I started this account, I started it to catalog the photos I was taking of my dog. Partially, it was a way for me to share them with friends and family who couldn't otherwise see them, and partially, it was for me. For me to have, ten years down the line, when her face is grey, and her eyes are failing, and her paws are tired, to remember everything that's led up to that moment. To laugh, and cry, when she's moved on, about how much of a GOOD dog she was, and how she shaped me as a handler, and did everything for me.
I didn't start it for likes. I didn't start it for followers. While I appreciate each and everyone one of you who's decided to throw your lot in with us and watch us as we grow, both as a handler dog team and as a photographer and subject, my primary focus is and always will be my memories with my dog.
Is this photo taken on an iPhone? Yes.
And I love it just as much, if not more, than some of the photos I've taken with my Canon.
Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Fall has only just begun to dust across the trees of Alabama but... That doesn't mean we can't fake it ;P
Hey, @onlynaturalpet! First and foremost congratulations on opening a new store in Denver! It's been great to watch you guys grow back from when Petsmart first started carrying your products (though my store only ever has flea & tick and supplement products) to today, and I can only imagine how proud you must be.
And you should be! Zero LOVES K9 PowerFood, and she's loved every treat and canned food I've throw at her with your label on it. Truth be told, I have a picky dog when it comes to dry food. If she's not interested, she'll turn her nose up at it for days unless we supplement with something else, but I can feed her K9PF dry as dirt and she wolfs it down like she's never seen food before.
Every great dream begins with a dreamer. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I can't be the only one needing a little #motivation this #monday - I've gotten very little sleep this weekend and I'm just so tired!
So, with that in mind, remind yourself that you're human today.
You don't have to get everything done. You don't have to be the absolute best. Sometimes, it's okay to come in second, and it's definitely okay to come in last. We all have bad days. We all make mistakes. The key is to remember that everything passes, everything changes, and tomorrow is always a new day.
And all at once, summer collapsed into fall. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Another photo from Ohio that I'm rather fond of ❤️ It looks like fall might actually be heading our way next week! The temperatures are looking like they'll cool off significantly from where they've been.
I hope all of my Florida friends are safe with Michael coming to shore today. Please stay safe as we go forward - my thoughts are with you and your families.
This is my entry for the #ruffbarfallambassadorsearch - we would LOVE to be part of your team! While we don't do a lot of hiking in the summer (have you seen Alabama between May and October? It's an oven!), we definitely get out very often in the fall, spring and winter, and our hikes are anywhere from 3-5 miles depending on the day and where we go.
We also participate in a lot of sporting events and activities! This November, we'll be back in Perry, GA for another cluster and hopefully earning our RATO, a RN and a CA. Between that and being an active demo dog for me at work, Zero needs a lot of extra calories throughout the day to keep up that gorgeous physique - Ruff Bars would help us so much with that!
We are back from Ohio and I'm hopefully going to get back into a routine of taking photos a few times a week now that it's starting to (slowly) cool off, but man, let me tell you, going from a balmy 65 degrees back to a humid 85 is a system shock 😖
If I'm slow (and have been slow) in the next few weeks, it's because we're driving to Ohio come Friday and staying until next Sunday for my sister in laws wedding.
I'm hoping there will be chances to convince the boyfriend (who's driving) to go on some hikes, as Ohio is apparently the most heavily forested state, to enjoy some of the cooler weather and each others company with the dog, but that's going to depend on whether we have TIME!
A while back, @onlynaturalpet put a story up asking for dogs and cats to test out a few of their new canned foods. Given we already feed their Canine PowerFood in our house, I reached out to offer both of my furry loves as sacrifices - er, I mean, taste testers.
We received 4 cans of dog food, and 3 cans of cat food to try! My cat is kind of picky and isn't the biggest fan of stews or shreds, so we got pate, but we got two chunky style and two pate style dog foods.
Naturally, like the fur mom I am, we started with a cup of CPF and a can of the Savory Venison & Duck stew - I mean, novel proteins are always better, right? Normally, Zero will wait to be released for her food when I put the bowl down. It's an automatic now - no command necessary.
But boy oh boy, she wasn't waiting for THAT. I barely had time to position the camera before she shoved her face into the bowl. We did the Pure Protein Pork & Rabbit the second night with the same level of ghusto, and a little bit of body slamming into heel position for me to put the bowl down faster. I'm calling that a rousing success!
Now, Honeydew (my cat) has a chicken intolerance, so ONP was kind enough to send us foods without it. We started with Rabbit & Pork, and as you can clearly see, it was a huge hit. I gave her half a can to start, and it was done and gone within half an hour with her winding herself between my legs, yowling for more.
Don't limit your challenges - challenge your limits. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ I think Zero is getting to avoid Monday... Don't look at it and it's not happening, right?
We're still a bit slow on photos due to weather and heat, but she should be coming out in the next week or so, which will allow us to get back out exploring. In the meantime, I'm just overworking myself as usual. 😵
Magick is believing in yourself; if you can do that, anything is possible. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Happy Saturday, everyone!
I hope you're all having a safe and fun weekend thus far. Did you hike anywhere new? Explore a new park? Did you make fetch happen?
Zero is in heat this month, so we're a bit limited on our options, but I'm hoping maybe this will be a good excuse for me to finally work on my indoor photography and maybe some body awareness exercises. My camera really struggles in low light, and Zero can sometimes struggle with rear foot targeting, though she's got decent rear-end awareness.
